What will be interesting is if Toledo and Ohio win out, then Toledo wins a hard fought MAC CCG, then the AAC champ has one loss.
Who gets it, in that case?

RE: G5 Access slot standings
I mention this all the time but if Boise State picked up an access bowl with 2 losses in the first year of the system I wouldn't rule out any school that has 2 losses at this juncture.
Boise State's situation is there chances have gone from 20% to .20% for getting the access bid. Utah State would have to lose 2 MWC games to not win the division and only Air Force has a plus .500 record left of the Utah State schedule.
The #2 team in a G5 conference somewhat has an advantage in an access bowl race because they have a chance at securing a big win over the #1 team like Utah State did over Boise State. That gave Utah State a ranked win to go with narrow losses to Utah and Washington.
Bowling Green is the incumbent in the MAC East. They've won 3 straight division titles and have the #1 receiver in the NCAA by yardage. If they were to win out they would have an excellent resume with 2 P5 wins, a win over Top 20 Toledo and quality losses against Tennessee and Memphis.

RE: G5 Access slot standings
Only thing with Bowling Green is that they'd have to rematch with Toledo only two weeks after beating them. That might give Toledo a better shot at winning. And then they'd still have two losses. If they had beat Memphis ... they'd be right in the hunt for it. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.
I just think the AAC is going to have, at worst, a 1-loss champ. So any other G5 that wants to compete has to have, at most, 1-loss.

Bowling Green has won the last 2 MAC East titles and have the NCAA #1 wide receiver by yardage.
Until Ohio secures the MAC East title they aren't in the conversation without a P5 win. If they secure the MAC East title then it would set themselves out to play Toledo in the MAC Championship game which would be a nice resume booster.
One thing to consider is as soon as the CFP committee releases their Top 25 that becomes the new rankings. Its very possible none of the G5 teams will break into the Top 15 of the rankings. What would Toledo be ranked by the CFP as an undefeated school going into the MAC Championship game? Something like #18?

When is the last time Temple or Memphis finished with 1 loss?

A two loss Boise will not get in over someone else that is undefeated.

Well, Boise's #1 problem is they have to have Utah St lose 2x to San Diego St, Wyoming, New Mexico, Air Force, and Nevada. If Utah St goes 4-1, Boise can't win.

well if Memphis wins today(they're up 31-14)- it's Memphis spot to lose- no matter what Toledo does in the MAC.

I think Memphis pretty much locked up the spot for the AAC no matter what Toledo does.

Memphis has to win the AAC yet which they haven't.

Bottom line right now- it's Memphis spot to lose. Toledo can't do a damn thing about it. They could win 100-0 the rest of the year and it's utterly meaningless if Memphis wins out.

Its looking promising for Memphis but the G5 access bowl will always go down to the wire following the conference championship game.
Possibly going into the AAC championship game it will feature 2 undefeated teams which would lock the autobid up for the AAC but we are far from knowing that at this juncture.

had to know you would try to say this.... If Memphis wins out- they are in no matter what Toledo does. Oh, and if Toledo loses a game- ANY 0-1 loss AAC champion will win the spot no matter what.
right now it's
1 Memphis
2 Temple
3 Houston
4 Toledo
5 Navy

RE: G5 Access slot standings
I'm not really a 'rah rah' AAC guy, but it would be absolutely ridiculous if the AAC champ doesn't get the access bowl slot this year. The conference this year is heads and shoulders above the rest of the competition for the slot.
Still plenty of weeks to go, but it's hard to fathom a scenario where the conference champ doesn't get it.

It's a team thing not a conference thing- so that's why Toledo has a shot if all of Memphis, Temple, and Houston lose. But really now Toledo is the ONLY fly in the ointment for the AAC.
