Louisville has a rabid fan base and has near total sports entertainment control of the Louisville metro - meaning they are the only game in town. There is no nearby competing P-5, no nearby NFL, NBA, NHL, or MLB team.

Maryland was a dying entity killed slowly by the quadruple blows of Len Bias' death, an egomaniacal Chancellor and President, changing demographics at MD, and the success of the Washington Nationals.

Any buyer's remorse should be saved for Miami and perhaps Boston College.

We knew we were not getting a Cadillac with BC. We thought we were getting a Caddy with Miami.

But the entire premise of the question presupposes that someone was available on short notice that was a better overall package than Louisville. We know that neither Cincinnati, Tulane, Navy, or Connecticut, brought a better overall package to the conference.

I would go further and suggest that Louisville is a better overall addition than Vanderbilt or Purdue, perhaps even Northwestern (which of course assumes these programs are seeking an exit from massive state school competition - which is not readily apparent at this time). \

Now imagine we got Texas when we added Louisville. Their football program is in the toilet, their basketball program has fallen on hard times. They can't keep a new AD. Would we have buyer's remorse?

What Louisville has now is the equivalent of a curable case of VD - syphilis, gonorrhea's, or chlamydia. Louisville does not have terminal cancer. UNC has a visible case of herpes right now, but eventually it will clear up before the next outbreak.

Miami might have an autoimmune disorder and we will see if it is chronic or acute.

FSU just sprained their ankle stepping over yellow jacket nest. 03-wink

Lumber, how do you know so much about STD"s? 03-lmfao

One should always know the enemy. 04-cheers

If you don't know what you are trying to avoid then you don't know what you should avoid. 05-nono

Personally I am very picky. If you start with a master's degree and the ability to hold a conversation as your first requirement you tend to avoid a lot of bad things.

If you are picking your girls from inside the Asian massage parlor, or the sleazy strip club, or the sorority house, or the cheerleading squad, you might as well be sleeping in a hotel with bed bugs.

This is what happens when you hire prostitutes. Just say NO to prostitution!

Actually a good whore house is a good thing for most communities. The well run whore house keeps a low profile, keeps the girls safe, keeps general standards high enough that you shouldn't be mugged and the neighboring property values are not drug down. You can't stop prostitution, you can only manage it.

I used to work in a field where part of my duties included managing the prostitutes as well as all the other criminals. With the well run whore house you have an immediate source of information regarding major crimes - a source better than barber shop or beauty parlor.

I am surprised that Louisville had to pay for professionals instead of using on-campus talent as certain other places have done. But with the professional, you are paying for her to go away and to keep mum.

God help if you have to manage and supervise a large number of so called "professionals" in an environment were their spouses and your bosses think you can put a stop to hanky panky.

Respectable and legit? What does this even mean?

I'm open to a discussion about various incidents and our institutions' responses.

I don't know any Memphis fans who aren't happy for Louisville. We may talk a little smack but we've been doing that forever back and forth. We respect the hell out of what you have accomplished. We don't even know this JerryJeff guy... honest...

Ouch.

I have remorse than Swofford started this whole expansion mess only to have politics and his own ineptitude at media rights backfire on him. If I had it all to do over again, I'd seek some sort of merger with the SEC in the 1990 time frame, when both the ACC and SEC started expansion in earnest. I'd pick up choice cuts of Big East to even things out.

I fully realize one fan doesn't speak for a fanbase, but I didn't just guess. Click on his most recent posts and they are about 90% from the Political Forum and the Memphis board, with a fairly even split among those two forums. If he posts regularly on the Memphis board but is not a fan my apologies, but that seems odd.

Either way I don't care that much, no big deal.
