Big South Football Tiebreaker
Chuck South beat the Beach Chickens last night which means if we win out and get a little help, we could have a three-way-tie for the Big South Championship/Auto-bid.

The Big South has traditionally had pretty dumb tie-breakers in place, does anyone know what they are this year?

The CS victory of CCU was big for LU. If LU beats CS and CCU, that could propel LU in another co-champ. If heads-to-heads are in the tie break mix, stranger things could happen. Hopefuly DS of the N&A will write about and state the tie breaker procedures.

Wait, I thought Coastal Carolina was the best team ever? But isn't that what all their fans have been saying on the Sun Belt board?

CSU is no joke. What Chadwell had done there is amazing. They play in a sub highschool stadium with some of the worst facilities, but he's recruited well and is a great coach. Liberty will struggle with CSU.

You guys have 2 conference losses. You need a ton of help. Even if you beat Coastal and CSU - where does CSU's second loss come from? The only possibility is Kennessaw and heck, even you guys beat them. 03-wink

I must admit, I didn't check their schedule before posting- I've got alot going on this fall, it's been really hard to follow my football and baseball teams. Anyway, I assumed they had 3 games left as well.

CSU is definitely in the drivers seat to win the conference title. I think with one more win they get it regardless of what anyone else does.

Then they finish with Bama before heading to the playoffs.

That's debatable at best. Maybe an argument could be made that Coastal Carolina has been more successful in the last couple of years at football and men's basketball on the field and court but as far as bringing in fans, having the facilities now as opposed to just plans, it is no question that Liberty is much further along than Coastal Carolina. I can't help it that the Sun Belt is blind to it. 04-cheers

No one was blind to it - we all see Liberty's advantage in those areas but they just weren't enough to overcome the SBC's objections. I was as shocked as anyone that they didn't pick Liberty - a mistake on their part for sure but worked out for us.

In all reality - by the time Coastal entered the picture Liberty was out of it. They were close to selecting EKU and then reached out to us. I think our success in the other sports is what really did it. They liked that we had national success in a number of sports and would deal with the football stadium issue. It is a chicken / egg problem but I think we'll be fine once we get the facilities and start playing better teams at home.

I'm happy for you Beach Chickens. I've enjoyed our rivalry and hope it continues, and that CCU would be an ally for us should we ever be considered for SBC membership.

Probably one of the reason liberty is the only Big South team to agree to keep CCU on the schedule for next year. Some of that good will could help us in the future.

Big South Football Tiebreaker
Big South Football Tiebreake.....

1) The team with an even number of letters in it's name wins if the other team has an odd number of letters.
2) If both teams have even number of letters the team with the helmets most resembling the color "dark" wins.
3) If another tiebreaker is needed, each teams starting running back from the 10th game of the season will have his game shoes inspected. The RB with the most cleats team is named champion.
4) or, if the school owns a live mascot they shall be deemed conference champion.
