MyBB '16-'17 backcourt
Baker; SR; 6'2" 205
Caver; SO; 6'2" 170
Evans; FR; 6'2" 175
Green; FR: 6'5" 175
Haynes; JR; 6'4" 215
Stith; RS SO; 6'5"; 210

What can we expect out of this group? I think the frontcourt will be improved next year; however the backcourt is a wildcard. How to we feel based on practice info and recruiting info?

RE: '16-'17 backcourt
I expect this group to be very good at defending and rebounding. They should be able to hold there end up pretty good with the scoring. Well Stith is very seasoned with a year at Oak Hill and a year at UVA and a year with the ODU basketball team, he should be ready to go with his brother.

No clue. Probably avg to sloppy play to start season. By conf play we see them gel. I think like we saw UAB do last season.

Stith, Caver, and Baker will be very similar to what we have now in Freeman, Bacote and Baker.

You're forgetting someone...zoran talley will be a backcourt player next year with our depth in the frontcourt.

I am not sure what to think about Haynes but if I were to guess I would say that our production comes from Caver Stith and Talley.

The only sure thing is Stith at the 2 spot. Baker is finally relagated to very limited part time service. Haynes plays a lot at 2 spot with BJ. The point is up for grabs between Evans,Caver and possibly Green. I really don'y know where Green fits but I do know he is a quality player and will probably play some at point and at shooting guard. There is no room for Tally in the back court. He will fit in nicely with Kah starting at the 4 spot. Stith at the 3 and Porter in the middle with Stith playing all three positions .Tally will not start but will play both the 3 and 4 spots some. We will be much improved next year and real good the next.

I think we will see Talley starting at the three and BJ at the two. Haynes will back up both positions and should earn plenty of minutes in that role. I look for Stith, Porter, Kah, and Colbert to handle the 4 and 5 spots. Just my opinion. We should be much bigger and more athletic. Freeman and Bacote will be big losses but our team will be loaded in the front court. BJ Could be the best shooter we have had since Poag.

Yeah definitely going to miss Freeman and Bacote. But we will be much much bigger. Could be another rough time start to 2016 in that regard. Nearly an entirely new roster.

Don't forget about Denzell. I still think Denzell/Stith will be the starting 4/5. I heard that Colbert still has a ways to go to get past the last big coming off the next year's bench. In regards to BJ, I'll wait to see him in action before comparing him to some of our historically best shooters. However, this is a subject I would love to be wrong. Regardless, I hope those sitting out this year are taking advantage of this year working with the coaching staff.

Huh? Stith at the 3. He is absolutely not even remotely anything but a 4 or a 5. People kept saying Ross would okay the 3 too...its absurd.

In alphabetical order by position, next year we're probably looking at this:

1. Caver/Evans/Green
2. Baker/Green/Haynes/Stith
3. Carver/Haynes/Talley
4. Carver/Colbert/Kah/Stith/Talley/Taylor/Vassor
5. Kah/Porter/Stith/Vassor

I wonder if we redshirt Green or Evans.

I wonder if we start Baker or Stith. Stith is a coaches son, but Jones has a man crush on Baker.

Do you seriously not know that he's talking about a different Stith?

Do you seriously not know that he put BJ as a lock at the 2. He is talking about Brandan at the 3-4-5.

I am going with

Caver
BJ Stith
Talley
Taylor/Kah (I see Taylor starting at the beginning of the season, but Kah getting the start as conference play starts)
B Stith

With the following coming off the bench
Evans/green
Baker/Haynes/green
Haynes/green
Kah/Taylor/Carver/Colbert
Porter/Taylor/Colbert/Vassor

Is it too early to build up impossible expectations for this squad? Elite 8 or bust? (just like we did this year?)

Thanks, how did I leave out Taylor? My apologies to Denzel who has been for the most part a three year starter. We will be loaded up front. It will be fun to get back to the days when no one pushes us around up front.

I have a feeling that if Coach has the needed depth next year, Green will redshirt. He is 6'6" and 175. A year in the weight room and a year practicing with the team could really pay off in the long run.
