West Standings:

1. LA Tech

3. Rice

Marshall defeats LA Tech in the title game. ODU is much improved. ODU will make some serious noise during the '17-'18 season!

EAST

1. WKU
2. Marshall
3. MTSU
4. ODU
5. FAU
6. FIU
7. Charlotte

Top 4 will go bowling, FAU has outside shot.

WEST

1. USM
2. La Tech
3. Rice
4. UTEP
5. UTSA
6. UNT

I think only the top two are kicks for bowls, with Rice and UTEP having a shot.

USM gets revenge over WKU in title game.

I just don't see this happening. And I'm not one of the rude ones. I just honestly don't see how you will get out of Huntington next year with the win.

And for those WKU faithful ready to pounce, I was one last year who was on the other side of this. I knew after we lost Cato we just wouldn't be able to hold as the top dog again.

I think we've got another good one in Chase Litton. And like MTSU, will have that oh most important position locked down for the next 3 seasons.

I can actually see the East bouncing back and forth the next few seasons simply by looking at who will be hosting who. We've got both WKU and MTSU making return visits to Huntington in 2016. That's why I think we'll be considered the favorite.

I see what you see....Litton has improved....I'll say what I used to say about Monken and Mullens..... doc just needs to let him run the offense, let him make mistakes, and watch him evolve into greatness....

thank the good goodies we get ya at the rock next year 03-wink 04-cheers

I think we've got a better shot at surprising Pitt in Pittsburgh than coming out of Hattiesburg with a win.

When the Rock is bouncing, there's no one in this conference who can compete. That's the truth. And now So Miss has that swag back....

Yeah, they're the favorite right now for 16, no doubt.

RE: '16-'17 Football Predictions
I think the East is going to be very exciting next year. With FAU, FIU and ODU all showing they are likely to improve, there may well be some upsets. Marshall, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee all seem fairly evenly matched at this point, and will duke it out. But look for FAU, FIU and ODU to create some problems. Too early for me to make a call on the East...much will depend on scheduling. I'm going with a homer pick with Marshall, but have I'm not confident about that, at all. Mostly because we get FAU, WKU and MTSU at home. I think Charlotte is still a year away from getting their first conference win, but anything is possible

In the West, I'm not sold on Rice. The wheels fell of, to a point, this year, and I'd like to hear more about how they are going to rebuild before I see them as an upper tier team again. I think UTEP and UTSA will improve, but the class of the West is still Southern Miss and LaTech. Sorry, but I don't see much of a rebound for North Texas next year. Two team race. I really think Southern Miss is the team to beat next year, and I think the Golden Eagles are the likely C-USA Champ next year.

Not sure the Owls can turn the 2015 train wreck around in a single season, with a new quarterback.

I do think Bailiff will be coaching for his job next year. He will have two years left on the current contract at the end of 2016.

I think it largely depends on who the new QB is.

I thought bailiff was coaching for his job last year, and surely will be doing that this next year.

Think USM is the front runner for the West, but the East is gonna be wild. Any of 4-5 teams could take it. Having to go to Norfolk to play ODU scares me. Those guys are young and coming on. ODU's front four on D really impressed.

I think MTSU wins the East (in a tightly contested race).

I would be very surprised. 6-2 at best in the East won't do it. I see another 7-5 season for the Raiders.

FAU is returning 17 starters.
And is setting up to have another top three class in the conference despite only being able to take about 18-19 this year.

RE: '16-'17 Football Predictions
WKU will be a force next season. We return a lot on offense, with our entire O-Line, plus all of our RBs, Allen is also said to be pursuing a medical RS, Taywan Taylor (I don't think he'll jump, but who knows), Nick Norris, Fant, plus two good RS WRs. At QB, we'll have pretty good competition between Nelson Fishback and Mike White, the USF transfer.

On defense, we have one returning D-Lineman (Overstreet), but there are underclassmen who saw plenty of action: Duclos (Jr. DE/DT), Bryant (Jr. DT), Reeves (So. DE). Plus, we have a 3* JUCO signed, Chris Johnson who is a 6'2" 290# DT. We also have 2 other 3* high school DT commits in the wings. Again, we look solid at LB. I know we lose Holt, Brown and Newton, but we get back McCollom and several guys who saw plenty of action this year: Davis, Whyte, Iggy and Bertram. This group accounted for 180 tackles in 2015! As stated before our D backfield is going to be pretty solid. Ward and Leston return, as well as Simmons and Brown at CB (207 tackles and 3 INT from this group)

I think 8 wins is very probable next year with a chance for 10!

I'm just glad Tyler Higbee and David Morgan gone next year. Tight ends kill Tech and those two are some of the best.

and that is the problem....wish you nothing but good will with that...

I don't care what anyone says, the QB is the key to success....especially in this conference.....

It is the key 100% for a winning football team unless you have a stud RB and offensive line that can simply impose their will. One positive is that no matter who is the starter next year for Tech is that they will all have had a minimum of one season under their belt learning the offensive system.

I don't know how accurate your predictions will be but I like it. We will see how much we have improved in week 2 and 3 at App State and at NC State.

I'm with you in expectations.....it's time.....

USM has played in 3 CCGs and all 3 have been on the road (06 and 11 both at Houston and 15 at WKU). Prior to that when there wasn't a CCG 2 of our 3 championships were clinched on the road....99 at Louisville (Mills Kills game) and 2003 at ECU (we beat TCU at home the week before to clinch but following week at ECU gave us outright title). In 97 we beat Houston at home to claim the outright title.

I say all that to say this...a CCG at Southern Miss would be just what the doctor ordered considering the fall we experienced and the hole we've crawled out of since then. It would definitely be the pinnacle to cap the long road back.

Will Tech be breaking in a rookie QB? Are there no holdover sophomores or juniors who know the system? Just asking...

They all know the system but the only one who has played has been a bit of a disaster.

Any chance of a third straight fifth year senior transfer QB?

7-6

No chance y'all come out of Norfolk with a win. We beat y'all in SA with single digit seniors. ODU will be a very different team next year.
Did you watch the game? Came down to the last play of the game.

UTSA had one of the youngest teams in the country. Another year under their belt will do them well.

We picked immediate help with 7 Juco signings. Projected starting RT 6'7 310, RG 6'4 315, CB, and LB.

4 losses were by less than 7 pts.

ODU had a very young team this year too and I am sure that they also picked up some new signings that will help along with some players that red shirted this year.

We started a freshman at QB for the majority of the season. In the games that he didn't start we moved our best receiver over to play QB. As good as our receiving core was the last half of the year, that was without Washington even being on the field due to injury.

At this point, and based on the game played at UTSA this season, I like our chances against UTSA in Norfolk next season.

USM goes 10-2, lose to LSU and blow a game we shouldn't (thinking ODU). We beat UK though.
