State fans are going to be quick to put Gott on the hot seat with Archie Miller seeming to be available.

Gott just got a contract extension so he'll be around for a while.

I don't mean he will actually get fired just that the fans will ratchet up the heat on him.

If Wake can't play better defense than this they won't even receive an invitation from the CBI.

Cornelius Hudson also needs to realize his skill set. He should become more of a slasher and rely more on his mid-range game.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. This game's at Louisville. You'll have plenty of low hanging fruit to beat.

Outside of Devin Thomas, FT's have been an improvement this year. Absolutely disgraceful performance at the line tonight by Wake.

RE: Open Thread - Men's Hoops
Ugly FT performance from Wake and equally ugly transition defense from Louisville. That was far from a pretty performance from the Cards but I'll take the win over an improved Wake club that had 5 power conference victories out of conference.

Much respect WF04-cheers

I know we won so that might seem hollow but I truly mean it. Our team is better for playing you and it was anybody's game. The thing is, I now have great expectations for your team. See y'all in the tourney!04-cheers

Aren't you overlooking UVa who happens to be ranked higher than both right now? And some better news for UVa is they host both UNC and Miami at home this year. (By the way UVa dominated Notre Dame today).

IDK - they just haven't impressed me this year. UVA is certainly up there too. That game @ UVA will be a good barometer for the Canes.

Virginia probably has the best resume of any team in the ACC right now.

This been a fun season so far. First time there's been real optimism about the program since Dino's final year.

Wake needs to do well in these next four games for it to continue. Manning really has this team playing hard for 40 minutes and they are definitely buying into the theory that they can beat anyone on any given night.

Extremely early ESPN Bracketology. He has 8 teams in and Wake as his "first out" team. No one else in the ACC is among his "first 8" out.

2 seed- UNC, Virginia
4 seed- Miami, UofL, Duke
6 seed- Pittsburgh
8 seed- Notre Dame
9 seed- Florida St

So he put 4 ACC teams in the East region and on 1 in the Midwest and West. That would be ridiculous.

Ridiculous, but maybe not unrealistic. In recent years it seems like the NCAA has taken steps to prevent an all-ACC final four -- most notably by leaving one region without a real viable ACC contender, even if they have to put multiple contenders in other regions. It is what it is (or am I just being paranoid?)

Pretty sure Lunardi is pretty famous for having last second changes to his brackets every year.

TV: ESPN2 - 2ND HALF
Virginia #4 (12-1) 21 38 59
Virginia Tech (9-5) 26 41 67

If Buzz only wins one more game all year, this would be SWEET.
(To UVa fans: I'm NOT holding my breath)

I have no idea why the refs think they have to hold their whistle no matter what on the last play of the game. LeDay with the pretty obvious foul there.

With that said, good win by VT.

on second viewing: it wasn't that bad

I'm actually pretty interested in seeing how Wake matches up with teams like VT, GT, Clemson and BC.

I'm not totally convinced yet that Wake has left the company of those schools at the bottom (especially since VT already has two conference wins)

VT is officially no longer a cellar dweller in ACC men's hoops!
(but probably still no threat to get a double-bye!)

I am not sure that Notre Dame will end up with an NCAA tournament bid this season, so that #8 seed seems overly optimistic.
