To be fair to the SEC, Wal-Mart is from Arkansas.

Still, like you said, the joke almost writes itself.

Vanderbilt was a given to not be on the list. So, with Vanderbilt's absence in mind, who would have guessed that the University of Mississippi ('Ole Miss) would have been the lone classy (non-Vanderbilt) SEC school? Not I ... not I.

EDIT: Look at 'ole #7.

FSU is at #20

And UNC fans prefer K Mart because they use the same shade of blue

The 1988 Clemson/sissy blue game was designated "Orange Day USA" by Clemson's marketing team. Prior to the game as the Clemson band was leaving the field the UNC band (95% of their attendance for the game) started chanting "Orange is ugly". A few of the Clemson band members heard it and started chanting "K Mart Blue" to them and pretty soon the entire stadium was chanting it. The UNC band didn't make a whole lot of noise the rest of the day as we did what we typically do when we face them in football...beat them.

Except all 14 SEC schools have higher academic ratings than Louisville. Go figure!

It would be interesting to see an average IQ of the fans in the stands at home games though, wouldn't it...?

And you would be shocked. At the average contribution level of 1000 to 1500 dollars you get the privilege of buying (depending on whether it is 1000 or 1500) two season tickets for almost $1100 more to be seated either in the end zones or the goal line to the 20's in the upper decks. All other seats require higher donation levels.

I don't know about in Blacksburg but down here in Alabama not too many T shirt fans can afford those kinds of prices.

To be fair, most of the UL hate is probably directed at UK, and I feel like most UK fans pay far less for tickets than most Alabama fans.

I actually like The SEC (football, we have better basketball in high schools back home in Indiana) but come on; Louisville fans unfortunately have to share the commonwealth with SEC fans that can't spell university. Most UK fans I know have never been to a game much less school there. They are fans because their parents are / were.

I have lived in Louisville area for the better part of the last 50 years. I personally know only five college educated UK fans. Two played football at UK, one went to UK and the other two went to other universities.

It would interesting to see what conference has the most fans that graduated from its member schools.

Your wish is my command [LINK]. Well, sort of... I have it by school.

According to the SBNation study, Notre Dame has the MOST T-Shirt fans nationwide (very believable), with UNC #2 (must be basketball fans, eh?).

The school with the 3rd FEWEST T-shirt fans: Boston College (again, very believable).

In fairness to N.D. & U.N.C. & Duke and everyone else on that list, it's meaningless as are CJ's anecdotes.

I believe the issue here is how many % wise out of each full stadia across the ACC & SEC are filled with alums? I would have to believe that the % would be quite high across the board. People who never set foot in a school always pick a dominate program to follow and to vicariously live through. Those who give to an athletic department and support the program through their tickets and presence are usually alums. It's the T-shirt fans and remote alums that buy the cable packages.

Go to Tuscaloosa and most of the factory workers are Auburn fans. Go to the Auburn area and most of the mill workers are Bammers. It's a class protest against the haves in each location. Get away from the campus areas and most of the blue collar support will be for Bama because they've won more championships. Auburn folks were a bit uneasy when Tuberville won 5 or 6 in a row back in the 90's because our T-shirt contingency was on the rise.

Alabama has 85 luxury suites in Bryant Denny and 47 in Coleman Coliseum. That's 132 luxury suites.

Louisville has 63 luxury suites at Papa Johns (with a pending expansion to add more) and 71 in The Yum Center. That's 134 luxury suites.

I'm not sure about Alabama but Louisville has required donations for seats between the 20's for football and for most, if not all, seats for basketball.

For what it's worth, Louisville has has luxury boxes for basketball since 1984. The first college program to have them.

Bottom line Louisville fans know about premium seats.

Face it you can't claim to have the most fans without having the largest percentage of t shirt fans. SEC fans can't have it both ways....

The contributions to which I refer are for Upper Deck & End Zone for a stadium at Auburn that seats almost 87,000. What are your prices for end zone tickets and goal line in the upper deck?

For example end zone seats at Miami (Fla.) go for about $8 bucks a piece in the season book. At an SEC site FCS will be $55, G5 will be $65, and P5 will be $75 and up. And again the minimum contribution for the right to purchase a pair of season books is around 1000 for the end zones. That's where the difference really exists in revenue.

That said the ACC was fortunate that you guys came along because your AD revenue numbers are excellent for the size of your facilities in football.

Face it we wouldn't be making 31 million a year off of the SECN if it was just left up to alumni now would we. And it's true, if you guys had as many of them as we do you would have a network by now. As long as they stay home and watch instead of showing up at the games and creating issues we are fine with it.

You do realize that Louisville pulls in more money than any other school for Basketball -- by quite a lot. Actually, based mainly on our enormous basketball revenue, but combined with the football has ranked Louisville in the TOP 20 of all schools yearly -- that's combining both sources -- we are the ONLY school that is considered basketball first that has made that kind of money -- more than most schools even with big football.

Also, the vast majority of our facilities, which are almost all new (within the last 15 years at least) are mainly paid for by the FANS -- without any help from the state. They tend to give all the state money to UK for their expenses -- we need or want new stuff we donate and raise it ourselves since they refuse it to us (always have). We were a small private school until the late 60s with no state support and when we became state we still got little because it was controlled by big UK supporters in the state capitol.

I would say a large amount of Louisville supporters are either former UL students, UL employees, or their family attended there. They are also one of the largest employers in the city between the school, the hospital and medical and dental facilities.

The vast majority of UK fans could NOT tell you how to get there other than it's in Lexington (somewhere).
