Quote:New Jersey's state school took a big gamble when it joined this athletic conference, in the hope that it would break even by 2022. Being in the Big Ten pays off in TV contracts, and could ultimately help Rutgers athletics pay for itself.

The school has reason for high hopes: The money helped four Big Ten schools to operate without a subsidy in 2014, and another five to have a subsidy of less than $4 million.

Rutgers won't get its full share of the revenue until June 2021. We'll be crossing our fingers until then. In the meantime, it has one of the highest athletic subsidies in the nation, and precious little to show for it.

I think every team has the opportunity in the Big Ten to have flashes of greatness, unless you guys just become another Indiana you got a shot to be in contention in any given year, you'll get there! Don't worry!
