Regular Season comes to a close
The regular season comes to a close, and 6th place is very much within our grasp.
Win our final two games (home vs CoC and @Drexel) there is a very good chance we secure #6 spot. The only way we wouldn't is if:
Hofsta wins @ UNCW AND
Hofstra loses vs. CoC AND
UNCW loses vs. Towson AND
JMU loses @ Towson OR JMU loses vs. W&M
We can still get 6th place with a win Thursday vs. CoC and a loss @ Drexel if:
Hofstra loses @UNCW AND wins vs. CoC
OR
Hofstra wins both, AND UNCW wins vs. Towson, AND JMU wins both @Towson and vs. W&M
We should be favored to win both of our final games, so let's get it done and go into Baltimore with a win streak, facing hopefully Towson or JMU. But really it probably doesn't matter, every team is capable of great games and let downs this season.

I don't think the JMU part is necessary. If what you posted happens, Northeastern and College of Charleston tie at 9-9 and go 1-1 head-to-head. Hofstra and UNCW would tie for first at 13-5. Northeastern is 1-1 vs. UNCW and 0-2 vs. Hofstra. College of Charleston is 0-2 vs. UNCW and would be 2-0 vs. Hofstra if they beat Hofstra. Then College of Charleston would get sixth based on a better combined record vs. Hofstra and UNCW, 2-2, compared to 1-3 for Northeastern. UNCW, Hofstra, and JMU cannot have a three-way tie.

That makes sense. I was thinking of it as the tiebreakers are decided for the 1st place teams first and then move down the standings. So the JMU game is relevant to the UNCW v. Hofstra tiebreaker. However, there could be problems with that method due to other ties. Makes sense that it would be done the way you described. Thanks for the info.

I guess I could have specified that if there is a tie for first, ties for lower positions look at all the teams tied for first as one group. I didn't realize why you were including JMU, and now I know why.

Gross start so far. Both teams can't hit a shot. A number of open looks missed. NU up 7-4 8 minutes in, need this game

Big win!!
Close call, blow a late 5 point lead but Ford with 2 clutch free throws wins us the game.
UNCW failed to win tonight, so the 6th seed is still not fully in our control, but we have the advantage now over Charleston. We gotta win at Drexel!

Drexel has clinched the 9 seed by beating Delaware, so Drexel will have Senior Day but the game will be irrelevant to their seed.

Have to say, Charleston is good. Brantley is a beast. This team is going to be on top of the standings in the coming years.

Win and we get the #6 seed and a date with Towson next Saturday. All we have to do is beat 5-23 Drexel. Easy right? Right?
We are down 34-27 at half. Tavon Allen with 23, chucking up crazy shots everything going in. When was the last time we won a game in Philly?

Saturday vs. Towson!! Wow, 3 ugly wins in our last 4 games... I guess most games these days in the CAA are ugly. We'll take it. Avoiding the Friday game is huge!

Thank you for beating Drexel to give Hofstra the tiebreaker over UNC Wilmington (and thank you for beating UNC Wilmington but not Hofstra). If you had lost, the RPI would have determined the 1 seed.
