And this has nothing to do with Trump. He hasn't weighed on on any of this. Not even a dog whistle.
As far as the war on drugs, yes, Nixon launched it, but didn't increase spending. Carter increased it modestly. Reagan spending skyrocketed, as did Clinton (can't blame the religious right on Clinton). It was actually flat under GWB.
statistics are only a resultant of cause/effect....
please explain how anyone other than status quo AND is electible has offered another solution
the progression to solving is a sticky one....
As I have said on this thread numerous times, I don't think there is a government solution. The only one offering one is Bernie and his solution is simply to empty the prisons. The problem is, if you do that, crime will skyrocket and it will eventually result in another crackdown because the people will demand it. While incareration is a problem, the rise of it has resulted in a decline in crime and most people that are incarcerated, by far and away, deserve to be. Until we start producing citizens that don't deserve to be in prison at a high per capita rate, you basically get one or the other, incarceration or high crime. As far as the federal government is concerned, other than smuggling and crossing state lines, it isn't really their issue anyway. Those people are going to prison no matter who is in office or what party controls congress. As far as Tyrone getting prison time in Baltimore for simple possession of a crack pipe, you are complaining about the wrong level of government.
I'm stopping there.....how do you know that?
have you given any thought that it may decline due to it more obtainable in a legal structure?
or that the private investment in prisons will now get crushed? (faghag lobbyist ref)
or that the residual being illegal may yield to more burglaries?
I can go on and on if yaz wants.....
you're just scared of the unknown.....
Well you could eliminate all crime by legalizing everything.
