What are some moments that are etched in your memory from film, news media and music? Here are a few to start:

I don't know that I ever came across a more fascinating villian in film than Anthony Hopkins' character Hannibal Lecter:




The "tank man" from the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacare aftermath:

Embarrassing story about the last video: I had no idea that "Runnin' on Empty" and "It Keeps You Runnin'" were two entirely different songs by two entirely different artists. I mean, I knew who the Doobie Brothers were; they played them on damn near every R&B station in the 90s. However, I had no clue who Jackson Browne was. So, imagine my surprise when I finally got ahold of the soundtrack and found the truth.

I was eclectic music-wise, but not THAT eclectic.

Four albums that changed my life in my younger years:









The Red House Painters one is a bit more obscure. It's slowcore/folksy married with Mark Kozelek's raw lyrics.

I'll never forget when my science teacher rolled the tv cart into class and we watched this after it happened live. You could hear a pin drop in the classroom.

I know 9/11 was on a bigger scale but the Oklahoma City bombing really impacted me. I think the fact that American born citizens (one was a veteran) planned and carried out this horrible act of terrorism told me our country was no longer going to be the same moving forward.

Very influential and quality album that stands alone on its own merits. Here are a few from my youthful days that really hit me upside the head (a musical awakening) when I listened to the full album/CD for the first time:

The Dinosaurs from Jurassic Park. Basically fueled the fire for home theater and DTS surround systems.

I'll give you guys the Challenger Disaster.

Musically, Appetite for Destruction by Guns N Roses and Fear of a Black Planet by Public Enemy were two of my most influential albums I ever listened to.

I've been to the memorial. That is one very emotional experience.

One of the best all time gangster movies IMO...
