It was announced yesterday that the Terps DC, Scott Shaffer was stepping down from the job citing 'personal matters'. He was hired by DJ Durkin soon after Durkin himself was hired. There has been a little speculation about what is going on but nothing conclusive. Did he not mesh well/get along with Durkin or is there a family matter, nobody seems to know. Wish Shafer the best with whatever is going on. In the mean time, it looks like Mike London may get a promotion. They could still try and go get someone but that is going to be pretty difficult at this point. Whatever happens, it has put a damper on the season and taken a little shine off when the Terps seemed to have things going their way.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, so I'll take him at his word of personal issues. But it does smell a little fishy.
