If you guys really believe that Trei will not go in the top 10 rounds, prepare to be shocked.

Most bad fielders and good-not-great hitters don’t get drafted that high.. But maybe I’ll be wrong.

You don't recruit a closer. Rather, you convert one of your best pitchers-- one with dominant stuff-- to closer. None of our great closers were relievers in high school. If healthy, my vote is for Moss to be our closer next year.
Despite his underwhelming stat line, and obvious concerns about his ability to control his pitches, I do suspect Gayle will be drafted within the Top 10 rounds (due to his quality fastball and plus curveball), and not be back next season.

How about can the Owls please recruit someone who can be a closer?

How about *any* form of relief that cant blow up a 3 run lead and I'd be happy.

Meanwhile....the first 2019 commit we had, Jackson Kiddy (Sweeny), is currently 8-0 with a 0.18 ERA. District Pitcher of the Year in 2018 in route to the 4A state championship game. Still playing with a chance to make a return trip to Austin. Too bad Bragga pulled his offer without ever even meeting the kid.
Rant over...back to regularly scheduled programming...

Hmmm... “Pretty sure I told some guys...”
You can bet your butt he’s talking about Rice. Matt Pierce is head of recruiting for the South Texas Sliders.
How has Martin been playing for Sweeny?
He’s still coming to Rice, right?

Maxpreps has the updated stats for Sweeny. Their coaches do a good job of reporting them immediately. Some coaches don’t. Just hit the stats button on their Maxpreps page and you can scroll through them all.

What position does he project to at the college level?
Thanks for your insight.
Also-with regard to JuCo players-is the league that the most recent commit from that we got appreciably weaker than other JuCo competition? So should we take his numbers with a grain of salt?

Martin is projected as a corner outfielder. He has a huge arm and good power. He can pitch as well but he hasn’t had many innings this year with Sweeny having Kiddy (UIW) and Homniok (A&M commit) as their primary starters.
As far as the most recent Juco commit goes, I will honestly say I don’t know much about him. I can reach out though and see what insight I can get from other peers.

I think the league is fine but any hitting numbers from a school in New Mexico should have an asterisk for altitude.

Hobbs is only 3600’ so while a slight bump might occur, it shouldn’t be huge.

How about discounting for the 'Get me the *HELL* out of Hobbs' incentive that is probably at play?
I've spent more than some time in Hobbs....... yikes......

New Mexico JC is a traditionally fantastic JUCO. While I don't know much about the kid we're referring to, I can definitely attest to NMJC being a very competitive baseball school.

I am sure that NMJC is a good program.
But the city of Hobbs is another story entirely. Hobbs makes Artesia or Carlsbad look like wonderful places.
