Just curious, how does anyone know what traps Memphis is or isn't falling into? Are we discussing the team or the fans?

To clarify im specifically talking about the fans. Obviously there is no way to know what traps the team may fall into or what their mentality really is.

So I should not overlook the possibility of going 0-12? Okay, I'm falling into that trap, lol. I'm overlooking it.

Well 0-12 might be a little extreme but don't overlook the real possibility memphis wont go bowling.

Okay, that makes more sense. Actually, I think worst case, we could win only 5 games. Those 5 are SEMO, Kansas, Bowling Green, Tulane and SMU. That looks like the floor to me.

The great majority of our starters and backups are returning, plus a number of jucos and decent freshmen. Our D will be decidedly better. We are loaded at RB, and decent at WR. Our big question is our new QB, who is likely the ex-Tennessee QB who got beat out by the current UT QB, and went the juco route.

We also have an almost equally talented backup who is a RS Frosh. If one of those two is serviceable and doesn't get hurt, we will be fine.

My money is on ECU. Could be Memphis or Tulsa as well.

Yup, forgot about them. If only Tulsa and Uconn could make a joint team. If Diaco & Montgomery were together, that team might be unstoppable.

You haven't already grabbed everyone's projected 2016 S-P+ rankings (Connelly's main stat) from the schedules so far ?!?

What's his handicap? Maybe the golf coach when he retires from football?

The schedule is bad enough that this team might reach six wins. An option offense is going to help this team level the difference in talent (just as it does at Navy).

It's hard to read this team. A good result against WF changes how people will look at the process.

That's not what he said at all. His projections have them pretty much as the exact same level of team, but going 5-7. He actually said he believes they'll do a little better than his projections to the tune of 7-5 ish.

Last year they beat all the bad teams and got beat by all the top 75 teams on their schedule. I thought it was a very fair assessment of Tulsa.

I work for Wake Forest, however you can bet i'll be in the stands Sept 1st pulling for Tulane.

Someone else who can't help but take a shot at ECU for firing Ruff. Get over it already.

Quote:You have to enjoy the general problem-solving approach of AAC teams: If your team stinks, go out and get a new head coach who is either a) an offensive dynamo, b) an exciting up-and-comer, or c) both.

Two years ago, UConn chose B.
Last year, Houston, Tulsa, and SMU chose C
This year, Tulane chose A, UCF chose C, ECU chose C (though ECU didn't actually stink), and in replacing an awesome coach who got hired elsewhere, Memphis chose C as well.

No way should Tulsa be #9. I can see them finishing as high as #2 in the West.

With that defense no way they finish better than navy. At best they finish #3 but even that could be a stretch. Most likely they finish #4 again behind Memphis, Navy, and Houston.
