A locker room for ODU, and 16,000 more seats for SU sounds right. Gotta start some banter with the ODU folks.

Time to expand Williams Stadium
Hmm, so if we nearly double the size of the stadium, that means double the need for parking. Will LU need to build parking garages? Is there space on campus for more parking lots? Is that going to destroy the aesthetics of our school?

Iv'e been to Tech, Wake, UNC, NC State games. If you're not a member of the Flames Club you're going to be hiking to Williams. The ACC schools offer off campus satellite lots and busses. You better join the flames club and start racking up some loyalty points ASAP!!

I parked at the baseball stadium for free at the Charleston Southern game. Granted I arrived three hours before kickoff. But yes, Flames Club is a must.

Time to expand Williams Stadium
I am a member of the Flames Club. I didn't realize it gave me prefered parking. But, I haven't been to a fame in a couple years. Can't wait to get back to the States.

I wish they'd go up and take a look at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisvlle and see how great it is to have ALL chair backed seating. We could do this too at The Bill and make things quite comfortable.

Getting back to parking though, I use to park in the lot where the LU Online offices were. Didn't have to pay a thing. Maybe it was further down near the ROTC offices.

A parking challenge for 6 home football games a year should not necessitate parking garages or a burden. LU likely will institute plans that other schools have. Bigger the contributor, the better the seat/parking/ambience. Reality is, this would be the best problem LU could help for with logistics of FB at LU. What to do with the increased thousands of fans who want to attend a FB game? Most all G5 schools would love to have that problem?

Parking is one of the biggest reason people keep donating. NCSU just offered a new online parking system that was great but alot of people were unhapapy when they lost the parking spaces because people with higher status started taking better spots which does not mean closer to the stadium. In the past, if you did not request, higher just got you closer to the stadium. For example I could easily be in front of the stadium with my spots, but where I park is much further away but an incredible tailgate spot with far more room.

RE: Time to expand Williams Stadium
I used to complain that Liberty never cares or plans for appropriate parking (Ok, I still do). However, after going to games at Tech and JMU, I realized our parking problem wasn't as bad as I thought. That said, Liberty has plenty of parking, especially with the campus expansion and remodeling going. Unfortunately, they don't have plenty of convenient parking, especially for the Hooter Dome. But they've already incorporated a shuttle system to handle that.

Ticket prices?
Shall we expect 100% increase in ticket prices?

Maybe not 100% but probably something, especially the big games.

With the new bridge over 460, allowing entrance/exit at both ends, and maiking university blvd parrallel to 460, should help.

One can expect tier pricing where the big P5 games command a premium and lower appeal games will be less. A friend of mine who is an App St alum and financial supporter said the Miami game, which was Apps first big name to come to Boone, sold out in record time with the ticket prices commanding a premium. LU can expect the same, especially with SYU opening in 2019.

Welcome to the board Willflop. We can also expect some major re-direction of traffic, especially at game ending where multiple lanes could be changed to going one way. It may take some time of trail and error but it is a great problem to have.

In regards to the SBC talk earlier in this thread...after seeing our 2018 and 2019 schedule...do any of you really want a Sun Belt invite now? I would MUCH rather play our independent schedule than a SBC schedule...no offense to the SBC.

I wouldn't want a Sun Belt invite for football-only but I'd probably take an all-sports invite. I'd rather join C-USA but they aren't likely to expand unless they are gutted and if they are gutted then I don't know if I'd want to join.

I originally was in favor of a CUSA invite as well...but after seeing our 2018 and 2019 schedules, I would rather play as an independent than a CUSA schedule. We get the best of both worlds - local matchups with SBC and CUSA schools, with the P5 and Independent matchups we wouldn't have with a CUSA schedule. If we truly want to be a national brand, I believe independence is the way to go. We can schedule marquee matchups against other national brands and increase our own visibility in the process. I would MUCH rather play the Army's, BYU's, and 'Cuses of the world than UNCC and Marshall. The great part about independence is we can still schedule the CUSA schools should we so desire.

If I were y'all I would take the invite for all sports. Football only would be a no. The SBC or CUSA would be worth it if you got all sports moved plus you have consistency with other schools. Either way I don't think an invite is coming anytime soon so just enjoy where you are.

Hopefully not being a conference champion does not hurt our chances of the playoffs or a bowl game!!!!

I have altered my position about being indy or with a conference. At present, with the quality of schedule that LU has amassed, I optimistically see it only improving with the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking an actions by the admins. I would lean toward staying indy, if and only if, LU is able within 3-5 years to be a legitimate FBS team posting winning records and earning a bowl birth on it's merits of wins. If LU lags in it's FBS credibility or takes a longer time to achieve it, the conference route would be the safer bet.

If the predominant attitudes expressed on the SBC board are any indication of the positions of the admins and leadership of the SBC school, then I would not want to be affiliated with the SBC. C-USA would be my first choice with the current lineup of schools as a full member. LU has the ability to be the most recognizable team within any conference, which may or may not sway some to accept LU as a conference pier. But winning and recognition equate to interest and appeal.

It all boils down to how LU succeeds in W's and L's. The quicker LU wins and gains credibility, the faster they will be appealing as a conference teammate. With more L's than W's, the longer LU will languish in indy land with little conference appeal.

I wouldn't want a Sun Belt invite at this point either. Outside of playing Coastal and App I see no benefits. Hopefully we can get them for a few games here and there. I am actually surprised CCU hasn't shown up on the schedule yet.

I wouldn't mind being in the C-USA east division. It would make for some nice rwgional games. Then you'd throw in some Texas trips. Still, I think we can have a comparable schedule as an Indy.

Though out of the question, I like to be a member of the American Athletic Conference. You have a national presence wirh high caliber teams and some privates.

All in all, we are right where we need to be. And I thank God for giving us this opportunity. I pray we make the most of it, and bring glory to him through our play and actions as an athletic department and university.
