RE: anybody like a new music thread?
how about some chain saw music from 1983

(comments on the foo fighter video

most people know that dave grohl was in nirvana before the foo fighters, but the video also shows pat smear who performed with nirvana. in the late 1970's, pat smear and classmate darby crash formed the pioneer punk group the germs, which influenced the later bands. unfortunately, darby died of a heroin overdose in 1980.

RE: anybody like a new music thread?
Those horns in post #61 are cool. Had to google the name ). Reminded me of the smaller horns you sometimes see at sporting events.

Unionman, that is a good post. I listened to that type of music once upon a time. I'm shocked i didn't know it.

I liked post 64.

Anyways, you know what's coming next. Summer rap. Because spring rap is over. This is another rap classic rarely played on local radio stations. For the record, too $hort is not known best for "blow the whistle".

Funky fresh on the microphone

Too $hort
Too $hort

See, I'm fresh like always, I'm coming at you
And you know I won't stop till I'm through
So get on it. now is the time
Too $hort, baby's gonna spit that rhyme
At you, cause I'm jamming, so check me
I play the music, even made the beat
Cause I'm the most rapping, most rhyming
Rolling in a drop-top straight high-siding
On you, boyee, I'm popping the most

I come from Oakland, don't play me close
Cause I'm a player, love to play this game
I get funky out here, pumping the name
Too $hort, the one and only, I just rock it
Fat bankrolls in my pocket
Call me a dirty rapper', I'll say, "Sure"
But I'm a young black entrepreneur
I'm an MC, right? I own a company too
Programmed the drums and made the groove
So when you look in my face you see a wealthy man
I hope it's not hard for you to understand
I'm the businessman, it's not the same
I'm treated like a dope dealer running the game
And you wonder why I can't get no peace
I'm making more than the chief of police
I'm...

Too $hort Too $hort...

Now that I've established one fact
I came here to rap

You got a choice to make about me
Can I get busy, are my raps too weak?
Boy, you're too grown, don't say I'm boring
Just because you know I come from California
where many rappers get no respect
I'm at home in a tape deck
I get played and played until it's all played out
Sucker MC's come to my house
They want a contract, get signed up
But like toys they need a good wind-up
Then the other suckers, saying no names
Rap on the mic and use New York slang
Even though we don't talk like that out here
The point I'm try'na make comes out so clear
You want paper or plastic, Visa or cash?
You wanna burn rubber, homie step on the gas
Now whip, dip, roll the strip
Gonna take your mind on a serious trip
Like always I made the beat funky
I keep your head bouncing like a dope fiend junkie

I got to say it before I break
I never rap fake
Cause I'm

Too $hort Too $hort...

See, I'm fresh like always, no sweat
It's time to jump back in the mix and get on it
now is the time
Too $hort, baby's gonna spit that rhyme
I sell records everyday
AND STILL I GET NO RADIO PLAY !!!!
I got homies, they love my beat
So you hear me all over the streets
I take pride in the bass, I make it deep
The kinda tape you'll always keep
So if you lose it, you're not my mama's son
It ain't free, go and buy another one

Like a costume party on Halloween
MC's pop up on the scene
So you made a record, I saw your poster
I'm still harder than you, boy, look closer
Won't say who's best, I just tell you the truth
You're not making money, so it couldn't be you
So if that leaves me, Too $hort, baby
I keep it in tune like do-re-mi
With a strict rap tempo, bass line sample
Take that, it's a Too $hort rap
It's on you, boy, I'm popping the most
I come from Oakland, don't play me close
Cause I'm...

Too $hort Too $hort...

Tell em nobody does it better than Too $hort
I take a limousine to the airport
Fly first class, never ever last
Cause a brother like me, I pay cash
Twinkle, twinkle, star in the night
Don't look now, but I'm shining bright
I know you wanna hear my triple X
Foul language, girls and sex
Well, I'm gonna tell you bout living the life
Staying in school and not smoking the pipe
It's hard to be a rich man, don't you know?
When you drop out of school and start smoking dope
It goes d-u-m-b
You're looking for some d?
Don't start tweaking, it's going on
You don't like it? Well, play another song
I got rhymes, you wanna hear?
I sing em every day of the year
You try to get it, you think you got it
I hope you like it, cause you sure can't stop it
This rap is so funky fresh
Too $hort, baby, in the flesh
And if you ever say I'm through
So what? I'm making more than you
Cause I'm...

Too $hort Too $hort...

Nobody does it better.

^That was a great line, huh?

Another rap classic never played on local radio.

My hooptie rolling tailpipe dragging
Heat don't work and my girl keeps nagging
Six nine Buick deuce keeps rolling
One hubcap cause three got stolen
Bumper shook loose, chrome keeps scraping
Mismatched tires and my white walls flaking
Hit mickey d's, Maharaji starts to bug
He ate a quarter pounder , threw the pickles on my rug
Running moving tabs expired
Girlies trying to diss and say my car looks tired
Hit my brakes, out slid skittles
Tinted back window with a bubble in the middle
Who's car is it? Posse won't say
We all play it off when you look our way
Rolling four deep, tires smoke up the block
Gotta roll this bucket, cause my Benz is in the shop

My hooptie - my hooptie

Four door nightmare, trunk locks stuck
Big dice on the mirror, grill like a truck
Lifters ticking, accelerator's sticking
Something on my left front wheel keeps clicking
Picked up the girlies, now we're eight deep
Cars barely moving, but now we got heat
Made a left turn as I watched in fright
My ex-girlfriend shot out my headlight
She was standing, in the road, so I smashed her toes
Mashed my pedal, boom, down she goes
Law ain't lying, long hairs flying
We flipped the skeez off, dumb girl starts crying
Baby called the cops, now I'm getting nervous
The cops see a beeper and the suckers might serve us
Hit a side street and what did we find?
Some young punk, dropping me a flip off sign
Put the deuce in reverse, and started to curse
Another sucker on the south side about to get hurt
Homey got scared, so I got on
Yeah my group got paid, but my groups still strong
Posse moved north, heading for the CD
Riding real fast so the cops don't see me
Mismatched tires got my boys uptight
Two Vogues on the left, Uniroyal on the right
Hooptie bouncing, running on leaded
This is what I sport when you call me big-headed
A pot-hole crusher, red light rusher
Musher of a brother cause I'm plowing over suckers

In a hooptie

It's a three-ton monster, econo-box stomper
Snatch your girly, if you don't I'll romp her
Dinosaur rush, looking like Shaft
Some get bold, but some get smashed
Cops say the car smokes, but I won't listen
It's a six-nine deuce, so the hell with emissions
Rollin' in Tacoma, I could get burned
(Sound of automatic gunfire) Betta make a u-turn
Spotted this freak with immense posterior
Trying to roll smooth through the Hilltop area
Brother start letting off, kicking that racket
Thinking I'm a rock star, slinging them packets
I ain't wit' dat, so I smooth eject
Hit I-5 with the dope cassette
Playing that tough crew hardcore dope
The tape deck broke
Damn what's next, brothers in Gortex
Trying to find a spot where we could hunt for sex
Found a little club called the N-C-O
Military, competition. You know.
I ain't really fazed, cause I pop much game
Rolled up tough, cause I got much fame
"How ya doing baby, my name is Mix-a-lot"
"Mix-a-lot got a Benz boy, quit smoking that rock"
Ooooh, I got dissed. But it ain't no thing
Running that game with the home made slang
Baby got ished, Bremelo gip.
Keep laughing at the car and you might get clipped

By a hooptie

Running outta gas, stuck in traffic
Far left lane, throwing up much static
Input, output, carbeurator full of soot
"Whatcha want me to do Mix?"
Push freak, push
Sputter, sputter rolling over gutters
Cars dip low with hard core brothers
Tank on E, pulled into Arco
Cops on tip for Columbian cargo
We fit a stereotype, that's what he said
Big long car, four big black heads
Cops keep jocking, grabbing, like gators
Bout stereotypes, I'm looking nuthing like Noriega
Cop took my wallet, looked at my license
His partner said "Damn, they all look like Tyson"
Yes, I'm legit, so they gotta let me go
This bucket ain't rolling in snow

It's my hooptie

My hooptie
Now let's roll...

RE: anybody like a new music thread?
build a monster

(the second song in this video, neat period piece from the playboy mansion, from one of my favorite steppenwolf albums named monster)

Once the religious, the hunted and weary
Chasing the promise of freedom and hope
Came to this country to build a new vision
Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope
Like good Christians, some would burn the witches
Later some got slaves to gather riches

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
But she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

And once the ties with the crown had been broken
Westward in saddle and wagon it went
And 'til the railroad linked ocean to ocean
Many the lives which had come to an end
While we bullied, stole and bought our homeland
We began the slaughter of the red man

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
But she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

The blue and gray they stomped it
They kicked it just like a dog
And when the war was over
They stuffed it just like a hog

And though the past has it's share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey

The spirit it was freedom and justice
And it's keepers seem generous and kind
It's leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind

'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
Now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told

Yeah there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watchin'

Cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand

We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner, we can't pay the cost

'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into the noose
And it just sits there watching

America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now?
We can't fight alone against the monster

RE: anybody like a new music thread?
Coming from a family full of police and military, it hurts to see this going on when i consider the law enforcement and the military the real HEROES. I'm not really in the music mode right now, but here's one anyways.

You gots to chill

Relax your mind, let your conscience be free
And get down to the sounds of EPMD
Well you should keep quiet while the MC rap
But if you tired -- then go take a nap
Or stay awake and watch the show I take
Because right now--I'm bout to shake n bake
The E-R-I-C-K is my name, I spell
Thanks to the clientele, yo I rock well
I'm not an MC who talking all that junk
About who can beat who, sounding like a punk
I just get down and I go for mine
Say check one-two, and run down the line

To the average MC I'm known as The Terminator
Funky beat maker, new jack exterminator
Destroy an employ, when your rhymes are not void
Never sweating your girl (Why P?) Cause she's a skeezoid
When I'm on the scene I always rock the spot
I grab the steel with the crown on top
In the beginning -- I like to let my rhymes flow
And at twelve I press cruise control
Sit back and relax, let my rhymes tax
Maintain MC's while the Double E macks
Always calm under pressure, no need to act ill
Listen when I tell you boy, you gots to chill

I be the personal computer information on rap
Like the B-I-Z Markie says, I'll make your toes tap
I format the rhymes, step by step
Make em sound def to maintain my rep
Prepared to come off, in case of a diss
Not worried about a thing, cause we can do this
I can turn the party out just by standing still
Make the ladies scream and shout while the brothers act ill
Take total control, of your body and soul
Pack a nine in my pants for when it's time to roll

I'm the P, double-E, M-D-E-E
And one thing I hate, is a biting MC
When I enter the party suckers always form a line
Then they ease their way up, and try to bite my lines
I did thousands of shows, dissed many faces
And deal with new jacks, on a one-to-one basis
But every now and then a sucker MC gets courageous
And like an epidemic it becomes contagious
But never the least they all R.I.P
For all those unaware it means Rest In Peace
Cause M.D. -- stands for Microphone Doctor
And the capital P (capital P) capital M (capital M)
Capital D-E-E's no doubt the chief rocker
Don't like to get ill, but if I have to I kill
So believe me boy, you gots to chill

Catch every word I'm saying, no there's no delaying
Don't hestitate to motivate the crowd I'm not playing
Seeing is believing, you catch my drift?
Don't try to adapt because I'm just too swift
(How swift?) I'm so swift and that's an actual fact
I'm like Zorro, I mark a E on your back
I don't swing on no ropes or no iron cords
The only weapon is my rapping sword

Intimidate MC's with the tone of my vocal drone
When I'm pushing on the microphone
Cause I'm the funky rhyme maker, MC undertaker
The one who likes to max and relax
And when it's time, issue diggum-smack
I keep their hands clapping, fingers snapping, feet tapping
When it's time to roll Uzi patrol was packing
The PMD, the mic's my only friend
And through the course of the party, I kill again and again
So if you're thinking bout battling you better come prepared
Come witcha shield and your armor geared
You gots to chill

Ozzie Osborne & Lita Ford

"Close My Eyes Forever"

Baby
I get so scared inside, and I don't really understand
Is it love that's on my mind, or is it fantasy?
Heaven
Is in the palm of my hand, and it's waiting here for you
What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy?
If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain the same?
Sometimes
It's hard to hold on
So hard to hold on to my dreams
It isn't always what it seems
When you're face to face with me
You're like a dagger
And stick me in the heart
And taste the blood from my blade
And when we sleep, would you shelter me
In your warm and darkened grave?
If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain the same?
Will you ever take me?
No, I just can't take the pain
But would you ever trust me?
No, I'll never feel the same, Oh
I know I've been so hard on you
I know I've told you lies
If I could have just one more wish
I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes
If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain the same?
Close your eyes
