But hey, keep arguing about markets
Universities where students recently voted down fee increases to help pay for athletics have a couple of things in common: They are primarily commuter colleges, where students may be less invested in sports; and they either do not compete in major football conferences or do not have football, which is the largest revenue sport.

BIGGER FISH TO FRY
1) (Underlined) 'Nova basketball is minor-league? You should probably tell the rest of the country. Everyone missed the memo - especially the NCAA.
2) You didn't address me point - If markets mattered, those schools wouldn't need subsidies. Actually, the fact that they need subsidies because of a lack of fan support proves my point. Fans matter, not markets.

80/20
Basketball pays for all of the other sports. If it didn't then March Madness would be driving the train.

This A) STILL doesn't contradict my original point and B) isn't related to my last post - unless you're now claiming that basketball isn't a major sport.

Because we know Miami fans don't commute to games.

unlike landlocked, remote, one-horse towns where there's nothing to do but pick your nose ...
YAHOOOOOOO
There's plenty to do in South Carolina. You have the mountains, you have the sea and everything in between.
And for being so remote it's amazing that seven times a year a town of 14k attracts enough people to become the 4th largest city in the state. Enough so that we don't have to photoshop fans into our advertising.
IMO, that blowout was one of the best things that could have happened to Miami, once you get past the total embarrassment. It brought home loud and clear that Golden was in way over his head and it expedited his firing which made way for Mark Richt. Now the Canes have a proven coach and they don't ever have to worry about being blown out like that as long as Richt is the HC.

Completely Agree Cuseroc!!
That beatdown was like a sweating out a FLU!! MIA needed to hit ROCK BOTTOM before they believed Golden was a BAD FIT for them. Clemson game = rock bottom.

many of us would rather go to the ACC than the Big 12 if given a choice.
