Maryland & Michigan vs Ohio State & Rutgers…let the satellite camp battle begin
Just FYI, I took (copied) most of this info from the Baltimore Sun article.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/terps...story.html

It looks like Maryland and Rutgers want to get in on this "rivalry" thing. We came to the conference together, we both hate PSU (triangle of hate??), we aren't far apart geographically and will battle for recruits occasionally. Throw in the two games we've played where each time the home team lost in dramatic fashion…I think we have a good thing going. Add to that, the fact that each of our current head coaches were part of one of the best rivalries in college football and will now add a bit to that rivalry on June 8th.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will headline the Next Level Football Camp at Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey (as well give the commencement speech at Paramus Catholic's graduation the following day). It looks like Maryland's HC DJ Durkin, Syracuse coach Dino Babers and Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi -- a former Michigan State defensive coordinator -- will also attend the satellite camp with their full staffs.

So what does this have to do with Ohio State and Rutgers? Well, Paramus Catholic boasts in impressive crop of talent. Rutgers coach Chris Ash announced he was holding a camp at Farleigh Dickinson the same day as the Paramus Catholic Camp. The two schools are separated by about 7 miles and Ash is hosting his camp with Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and Temple coach Matt Rhule. And, according to NJ.com, other New Jersey high school football coaches are encouraging their players to attend the camp at Farleigh Dickinson instead of the camp at Paramus Catholic.

It is time to battle. Thanks UM and OSU for letting us get in on the fun.

I love our growing rivalry. Close games and close proximity will let this turn into true hate soon enough. Though we both have to beat PSU a few times for the triangle of hate to fully form. Those guys still think the can get in on that OSU, MSU and UM triangle of hate.

Well first of all... We Don't Give a Damned For The Whole State of Michigan not just Ann Arbor. Secondly,The lines have been drawn. Rutgers is tOSU East & Maryland is really good at lacrosse and will be Michigan's Eastern paisan.
I must confess... i like Rutgers future prospects.

Don't count me a a big Harbaugh fan but my reasons to dislike OSU are certainly piling up! And who you calling paisan? Shouldn't that be the Jersey boys? That would seem more appropriate for them I think. I don't know what the Terps might be to Michigan but it appears we are but a pawn in this chess match. But I love it! And maybe one day we will work our way up to being a knight.

And for the rivalry trophy. Let's call it the most obvious name possible and stay away for contrived monikers. "Class of 2014 Trophy". You can call the rivalry whatever you wish but the trophy should be simple.

Why in the hell is Nebraska v Wisconsin not called the Battle of Big Red or Iowa v Nebraska something like children of the Corn?
Stop it with these stupid meaningless names and use logical names.
Okay... I'm off my soapbox.

My philosophy on trophies is they should be utterly and completely random things and barely trophies at all. The Axe is the best with the Floyd of Rosedale being close. I like the Illibuck a lot too even if not a huge rivalry.

I say for either Rutgers and Maryland or a 3 way one with Penn State too, you should have a big oar and call it Washington's Oar (for crossing the Delaware). If it's a 3 way trophy, handle it the same way Army-Navy-Air Force do.

A trophy between rutgers and maryland is simple. The blue claw cup! Or just a big wooden/metal crab.

We have a rivalry trophy that is a large crab with Hopkins for lax. I do like the oar idea but both Maryland and Rutgers need to start winning some games. Our records against them are...less than stellar.

I'm just happy we're discussing a rivalry with UMD in teh Big 10, instead of a rivalry with UConn & Temple in the American.

What's better is that Temple initially committed to go to Michigan's camp and Flipped to Rutgers. Good teamwork. All of this hate for Michigan... my cup runneth over.

RE: Maryland & Michigan vs Ohio State & Rutgers…let the satellite camp battle begin
Saw this on another board discussing this topic. Is this person just a bit salty? Is it correct many people aren't happy with the way this high school program was built?

RU is not happy about Michigan taking 5 of our best recruits last year (plus Peppers the year before). We blame Flood and his devastation of the overall football program. And why does the Principal of Paramus Catholic High School invite Harbaugh to speak at the high school graduation. And then say RU is "invited" to attend Michigan’s camp at our school. PC is hated by most other high school coaches since Partridge (former PC coach) used questionable methods to build a powerhouse team. Then left to join the Michigan staff. Basically we are thrilled that Ash stood up to Harbaugh and that he is building a strong program.
