Two Mass Shootings in Orlando in Two Days
Sad story. Christina Grimmie (22 years old) was shot dead after a concert in Florida by some crazed fan in an autograph line. Grimmie's brother wrestled the gunman to the ground and then the gunman killed himself in the struggle that ensued.

Grimmie was third in The Voice singing competition back in 2014 and also is a very popular You Tube personality. I bet you this senseless murder will shock the entertainment industry and celebrities of all levels will not interact with their fans in the same way anymore. And I don't blame them.

2 miles from my house. On my bike route, it's kind of a crappy venue but kids would camp out there all day Friday to see their favorite performers. Really sad. Her brother is a hero for keeping others from being shot.

I doubt the shooter had a Concealed Carry Permit

I had never heard of her (don't watch the Voice), so I looked her up. Damn. Beautiful voice. RIP

Fame may be fun: you do what you enjoy doing (i.e. singing), get celebrity treatment wherever you go, and make good money.

But it comes with that elevated risk of crazed stalkers with several screws loose who have convinced themselves that you "belong" to him or her. Details haven't come out on this attacker, but I'd say chances are high he'll fit this profile.

Absolutely, but you can't ask people to not pursue their dreams either. I still remember hearing about Rebecca Schaeffer getting killed by an obsessed fan back in the 1980's (she was a TV/movie star gunned down by a nut at her apartment). Theresa Saldana was another high profile stalking case - she survived her attack but she just recently died of cancer I believe a few days ago in her early 60's.

My wife and I watch the Voice and we like it. That's one of the only times I'm not in my cave so that we can watch it together. It makes her happy. Anyway, I was telling her that Christina got killed and I asked her if she remembered her and she said yes but I don't.

May she rest in peace.

Very sad. Losing a sibling would be bad enough, but I can't imagine what her brother must have felt after the shooter took his own life in the ensuing struggle.

R.I.P. Christina.

couldn't agree more in sympathy....and I mean that coming from an atheist...."no ill will unless deserved or req'd" is my motto....

however, what about all the others that died that day....

man, it's fk'n scary how the media has it's stranglehold on "importance"

that shite disgusts me....

freedom of speech no longer exists....it's always been some version of propaganda......

this o'day version has achieved another level of idiocy.....

And another mass casualty shooting in Orlando...

Late last night, a person went into a gay nightclub and fired multiple shots. The shooter is dead. No word of other casualties yet, but it sounds like there will be several more deaths.

Again, less than 2 miles from my house. This is crazy. Up to 20 deaths.

just woke up to the story.....

it's just a matter of time (regardless whether an act of terrorism) before churches, schools, sporting events, etc....mere random targets = their goal...

there are so many options available to the rogue sector.....

there are some really fk'd up people out there...

and we continue to let them in....

You think this 2nd shooter is foreign? I haven't seen him or her ID'ed yet but I'm assuming he's American and a local from Florida. Could be wrong.

ETA - and I am possibly wrong. I do see a possible link to radical Islam for the terrorist in one short tweet.

haven't seen confirmation on a 2nd shooter....

regardless, there are many american born radical weaklings that embrace the 'stupid god movement'

and so many here worry about us atheists as a threat....couldn't be further from the truth...

just super sigh to religion and the fanatics it will always attract.....what a waste of flesh and time....

RE: Two Mass Shootings in Orlando in Two Days
The shootings could be connected. The first one was ready to take out a lot more people. He had no connection to Grimmie. He was from St. Pete. The 2nd shooter (3 miles from the first shooting) was also loaded for mass casualties. Word on the street is that he could be linked to Islamic radicalism.

now I understand the 'two shooter' aspect....

I thought he referenced 'more than one shooter' in this incident....
