It's weird George Lapides and Gray Avenger passed within a week of each other.

When I think of Tiger traditionalist, I always put those two together.

But a long time I though GA could be Lapides. Seriously.

I would like to make a motion that one of our boards/sub-boards be named in his honor. If ANYONE ever deserved to be memorialized on mt.org, it was The Gray Avenger!

Ditto.

I talked to him by PM frequently. Last message from him was Wednesday just before noon. I will miss him greatly.

Prayers and condolences for all the family. There are few posters who will be remembered and revered after they depart this world. Ronnie is certainly one. RIP GA.

No one will ever be able to question your father's passion for and loyalty to the Tigers. Please know that your family is in my thoughts.

I remember he posted about Tigers baseball a lot and always wanted to see the Tigers in the CWS. Weird that he passed during the middle of it going on right now. Hopefully he'll get to see us in it from above someday.

RIP to a great Tiger fan and prayers for his family and friends.

I will never forget The Grey Avenger because he prayed for my son the years 4 that he was deployed in Iraq. Again, he was a true Southern gentleman. I will miss him.

Shocking news and I offer my prayers for you and all who knew him. I almost feel like I knew him as I recall his posts going back to several boards before this one. The Tiger nation lost a great one today and a true blue Tiger fan. I don't think he can be replaced but I will certainly honor his memory by donning my correctly colored Tiger gear and providing a rowdy Tiger chant in his honor.

My wife never reads this board, but I told her this morning that the Gray Avenger had passed, she said, "Oh dear!" and knew immediately who I was talking about. I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Burrage personally that I know of, but I've "known" him for some 17 years now.

I remember a post he made years ago where he told this really funny story about a Tennessee fan having to be carried out of the Liberty Bowl after having a beer bottle broken over his head. I remember in that post he wrote, "The Gray Avenger was born". I still laugh about that post.

Deep condolences to you and your family.

I'm so sad to hear this news. I had great respect for Ronnie as a true fan of the program.

I'm glad he got to see the football program headed in the right direction, but so disappointed that he didn't get to see us in a P5 conference.

RIP, Ronnie.

Embrace the Gray!

Very sad to hear the news. I don't believe I ever met GA, but I felt like I knew him from reading his posts over the years. We've lost another superfan.

My sincerest condolences.

He loved the University of Memphis more than anything except his family. We lost a great voice, advocate and fan today. Please remember and honor him in that way. Rest in peace dad.

Sorry for your loss, I enjoyed jawing with him on this board and definitely respected his loyalty.
