I've always enjoyed the Red Hot Chili Peppers and their cover of the original Brandy is pretty cool...

Flea is just an incredible bass player...

IMHO their music writing reached higher and better limits beginning with the album that preceded Californication (1999) - One Hot Minute (1995) that featured Dave Navarro (formerly Jane's Addiction) on guitar.

Their 1991 release Blood Sugar Sex Magik was when I became a Peppers fan.

I remember buying Freaky Styley and then later The Uplift Mofo Party Plan.

I played those two CD's so much in the late 80's and early 90's. Still love both.

Mothers Milk came out and was clearly (IMO) their best album, although maybe not my favorite as I was really into what they were doing with funk rhythms.

They took a musically turn that veered from my tastes and I honestly thought the magic faded beginning with Blood Sugar Sex Magic - as did my interest in the Peppers musically.

But once in a while I still put on Mothers Milk or those two preceding and turn them up - really loud.

That album was about the end of the line for me when it came to the Peppers. I was into them all through high school and I was in the desert for Uncle Sam when that one came out and I think I played it so often on the disc man (remember those?) that year that I now have a Clockwork Orange visceral reaction to it.

Absolutely. I even had the disc man cassette adapter for my car back in the day.

And when I was a pre-teen, the chili peppers song that all the cool skaters were putting on their mix tapes was this one.

Most of us thought it was an original, we were not familiar with Stevie Wonder's full body of work.

Following Coopdaddy's lead...

Willburys were great collectively, and before the collaboration...

(for "Fire on High: if you're no fan of the weird intro, drag to about 1:29)

My late wife and I once saw BB King live in Redondo Beach. $75 per ticket... worth every penny 04-bow

You'd probably be lucky to even find a CD player for your car now 03-lmfao
