No you won't.

You have:

Questions at guard

Note that wkuhiltopperfan did not say WKU WILL win the conference. He said that WKU will have the talent to win the conference. He then notes that issues of new coach, transfers, and loss of players from last years' team makes it a "who knows" situation.

Reading is fundamental.

He said you will have the talent. And you won't. WKU is a year away if they hold their current nucleus together.

I know what he said.

Of course Western has questions at the guard spot....

just as Middle has questions up front replacing Harris & Buford two of your top 5 scorers. A,long with your #5 scorer. So Middle is replacing 3 of their top 5 scorers.

As for Western's question at guards.....

Que Johnson averaged over 11ppg last year and shot 40% on 3s so it's like having one of those questions answered.. A 6-6 SG that avg 11ppg is not a question mark. Any of us would be happy with having a returning player with those numbers.

Junior Lomomba 6-5 does not have the scoring avg as Johnson but he did start I believe around 25 games in the BigEast last year with a 5.3avg playing mostly the point.

So again any of us would be happy to have a Sr returning that started over 25 games and averaged 5.3ppg

If you think about it other than Giddy Potts Middle has more questions at the guard stop than Western...

You have three guards coming back with a lot less experience and scoring than Western .

So yeah, Western has the talent to win this conference because Western also has the best returning front court in the conference. And it's probably not close...up front. Add to that two Sr guards that started...NOT BENCH PLAYERS, started in the Big East and Pac 12.

It adds up to a as much talent starting as any team in this conference. At least on paper.

My apologies. I made an incorrect assumption. I assumed that anyone who knew about out incoming players and some of our returning players would know that we have a crapload of talent on the roster this Fall. Regardless, as WKUYG stated above, WKU will have lots of talent this fall but many questions remain....chemistry, coaching, etc.

If you think your frontcourt is better than UAB's (Lee, Cokley, Mehinti), you're high. No one can trot out a frontcourt with that size, skill and athleticism.

I obviously agree but I have to admit WKU's front court outplayed ours 2/3 times they played last season. They'll miss Rostov but will do just fine with Justin Johnson and Ben Lawson.

Ask UAB fans WHY they did not want to draw Western in the Tourney and that will answer this question. Lets not forget Western had a starter and what most people would say was the 2nd best (probably 1B to JJ's 1A) player on the team last year...

6'8 Willie Carmichael and another frontcourt JUCO that got hurt before the season started that was as athletic as anyone on the team...

JJ a 6'6 240 jumping jack
Ben 7'1 5ppg along with 2 blocks in 16mpg

Anton Waters 6'7 245 who came on and played a major role 4.4ppg & 4reb in 14.5mpg

Phabian Glasco 6'7 240 was penciled as a starter before blowing out his knee...a rebounding hog that just has a nose for the game and the dirty work

Jabari McGhee 6'7 205 transfer from Tenn that sit out last year
Willie Carmichael 6-8 jumping jack

As I said ask UAB fans about Western's front court and it only gets stronger this year.

We don't want to even think about 2017-18...if this group holds together

There's empirical evidence that says that UAB was 8 games better than WKU last year.

Long story short: Back it up and maybe someone will believe you. Western hasn't backed up jack the last few years.

Being 8 games better than a team that had 8 out of 12 new faces is not the same as having the better front court. Why are you moving the topic? one thing doesn't have anything to do with the other.

So going by your logic UAB was the best team in the conference last year and Middle just got lucky Western knocked them out? UAB dis win 78.8% of their games while Middle only won 71%

And by your logic UAB also had a better front and back court and coach than Middle. If that is your argument...

Cokley, Norton, Lee, Mehinti, and Brown were 5-0 against Middle over two seasons. Middle has had a fantastic team the past two seasons but it would be hard to argue their front and back court has been better than UAB's.

In my opinion Coach Davis is the best coach in the conference but that really has nothing to do with the conversation.

RE: "Madness" College Basketball 2016-17 Men's Basketball Top 144
College Basketball 2016-17 Men's Basketball Top 144 -1 / Teams predicted rank in Conference

On the Bracketolgy side of the countdown, simply filling in the 9 conference Champs from the bottom 9 leagues, obviously eliminates 9 of the 68 spots available.
Bracketolgy Link... http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/mens...acketology

Three CUSA teams that remain will be in the top 94, It is still a coin toss who those three will be.
Only 3 of the below teams will be selected, who will be the three on the outside looking in!

#1 #2 or #3 for CUSA - Middle Tennessee
#1 #2 or #3 for CUSA - UAB
#2 or #3 for CUSA or maybe not in the top 144 - Old Dominion
selected #130). #4 in CUSA - Marshall
selected #139). #5 in CUSA - Rice

Will one of the teams below be selected in the top 94 or is the lack of
respect for CUSA going to have them as a 145 or lower rank? IMO,
looking at past performance, I see no way the 3 teams above along
with all those listed should not have been in the top 144.

? Maybe a top 95 program Western Kentucky
? Maybe a top 95 program La Tech
? Maybe a top 95 program Charlotte
I think we should have had at least 6 maybe 8 in the top 144

There is no way all of those schools below should be ranked above many of the teams I have listed above for CUSA.

UPDATED 8/8/2016

#95 South Carolina #9 SEC
#96 UT Arlington #1 Sun Belt
#97 UC Irvine Men's #2 Big West
#99 Ohio Men's #3 MAC
#100 Charleston #3 CAA
#101 Weber State #1 Big Sky
#102 South Dakota State #2 Summit
#103 Nebraska #10 Big 10
#104 Siena #3 MAAC

RE: "Madness" College Basketball 2016-17 Men's Basketball Top 144
College Basketball 2016-17 Men's Basketball Top 144 -1 / Teams predicted rank in Conference

On the Bracketolgy side of the countdown, simply filling in the 9 conference Champs from the bottom 9 leagues, obviously eliminates 9 of the 68 spots available.

Will one of the teams below be selected in the top 92 or is the lack of
respect for CUSA going to have them as a 145 or lower rank? IMO,
looking at past performance, I see no way the 3 teams above along
with all those listed should not have been in the top 144.

? Maybe a top 92 program Western Kentucky

? Maybe a top 92 program Charlotte
I think we should have had at least 6 maybe 8 in the top 144

There is no way all of those schools below should be ranked above many of the teams I have listed above for CUSA.

It's so good to see the Aggies 100+ spots ahead of the Miners despite losing their coach and best player this year. Our program is definitely headed in the right direction!!

UAB will easily be the #1 team from CUSA on this list. That's not even in debate unless you just want to reach for something to discuss. The discussion should center around #2 & #3.

Yeah preseason I agree. Well see how it shakes out down the stretch. I think we could either battle for 1st or 6th with the new folks coming in. But lots of optimism.

Of course. These rankings are meaningless and just something to pass the summer away.

College Basketball 2016-17 Men's Basketball Top 144 -1 / Teams predicted rank in Conference

On the Bracketolgy side of the countdown, simply filling in the 11 conference Champs from the bottom 11 leagues, obviously eliminates 11 of the 68 spots available.
