I could not agree more with you. You don't even have to go back a week. Monday basically everyone was reporting B12 will likely not vote on anything expansion wise etc.
I will say this based on what the B12 stated the criteria will be either the AAC is going to lose up to 4 teams. The ACC finally made it known what we all knew the B12 is not getting a P5 team. Now, it's all about growth and overall program readiness. Who those teams will be is unknown to anyone. TV was driving it at first now it seems to have flipped some. I hope they do it quick so the AAC can move on.
Nobody expected the ESPN/ACC deal.
Nobody expected it would finally make the B12 realize they were not going to get a P5 to join them. The ESPN/ACC news broke Monday. People were still writing Monday going into Tuesday nothing will happen.

Only b/c nobody was ever talking to the media. The Big 12 didn't do an about face based on the ACCN deal. They have been planning this for a long time.

Yuck. Well it did say possible. Nothing determined yet. And it's not with Football program. But still, this isn't helpful.

I'd imagine the B12 wants to steer clear of any more controversy for a while.

RE: B12 expansion news, info, and speculation mega-thread
Report: Power Five coach says 'book it' on Memphis to Big 12
http://memphis.247sports.com/Bolt/Report...2-46329038
Quote:On Tuesday, the Big 12 announced plans to explore expansion and add two or four teams to the conference.
An "influential" Power Five coach outside of the Big 12 thinks one of those teams will definitely be Memphis, according to CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd.
The renewed expansion talks are largely motivated by money. The addition of four teams to the league could increase the total value of the Big 12's current television contracts with Fox and ESPN by $1 billion, according to a report from Dodd.
Any new team joining the conference would generate additional shares of TV revenue from the networks based on the negotiated 2012 contract. The current 10 Big 12 schools each reeled in approximately $25 million in television money last year. A program could, however, agree to take less than an equal share of the yearly revenue up front in order to make itself a more attractive candidate to the conference.
In addition to Memphis, other American Athletic Conference teams, including Houston, UCF, Cincinnati and UConn could show interest in joining the Big 12.

At least one coach has already placed his bet on the Tigers.

Fwiw I'm told admins in the AAC are conferencing this PM. My sense is any request to be respectful publicly will largely be ignored

Reactionary does not mean what you think. Reactive is sufficient.
Progressives can dribble better than reactionaries.
They run a reactive system and should plan better.
You are welcome junior

USF is cooked - TERRIBLE timing. There is no way that the Big 12 wants to deal with that while also dealing with the Baylor fiasco.
So, then there were 5:
UConn
Cincinnati
Houston
Memphis
BYU
I am not including Boise State (since they have terrible academics and no market) or Colorado State (they aren't that great in any sport and the Big 12 would have to share the Denver market with the Pac 12)

Seems if your gonna mention UCONN you'd mention Temple.
If the Big 12 adds Memphis, Cincy, Temple and UCONN you get a pretty impressive arch across the eastern part of the country, into some heavily populated areas.
I think part of the problem is Philly being a pro sports town at this time of the year the Philly media spends their time covering:
1. The Phillies
1a. The Eagles off season
2. The Democratic National Convention
3. The Sixers feeble attempts to right the ship
4. The Flyers
.
.
.
27. Temple being a Big12 expansion candidate
College sports are pretty far down the list. Now that doesn’t mean that Temple isn't working behind the scenes as hard as anyone trying to gain an invitation, it just may be the reason you don’t hear much about it.
If they went four I could see Trmple potentially there to bridge the gap with UCONN
Big 14 North:
1.UCONN
2.Temple
3.Cincinnati
4.West Virginia
5.Iowa St
6.Kansas
7.Kansas St
Big 14 South:
1.Oklahoma
2.Oklahoma St
3.TCU
4.Baylor
5.Texas
6.Texas Tech
7.Colorado St or New Mexico or Houston etc.
Cheers!

I dunno. If the Big 12 want a stake in Florida I think they're taking both Florida schools. I can't see violations eliminating USF, all things considered.
