True. Just look at the Texoma 4 that was 30 minutes away from being official.

It's only a money grab if the money you're grabbing is spare change. If you want real folding money, than UCONN is the way to go.

Things are going to be pretty quite for the next several years at the P5 level for expansion after this B12 stuff is done. Everyone is under GOR and the B12 didn't vote themselves out of a conference and instead expanded.

The same Tramel who said last week that expansion was dead.

You mean when it was dead, before the ACC TV deal?

It wasn't dead at all. The media just thought it was. If you think the Big 12 turned on a dime due to the ACC deal, which they already knew was coming, you would be incorrect. The Big 12 has been debating expansion since late 2013. It has never been dead. It heated up in February, when they first started talking about going to 14.

Bingo. I played in a charity golf outing in April and met a certain p5 AD who has been active in the realignment game in the ACC who when asked gave his semi-informed opinion...he's nailed it every step of the way so far. I'm guessing his guesses hold up.

We will hear something within the next 3-4 weeks.

Guys, B12 expansion wasn't dead the night before the vote took place when the ACC Network news came out. The B12 media and other media were just wrong. It happens. There were only a couple of people who had the real information about B12 expansion happening or not.

Heck, the B12 already knew who their main targets were before the meeting was done.

OU and UT will never be able to get out of the politics of Texas and Oklahoma without taking their travel partners, and the B1G and Pac want no part of the OSUs, Baylors, and KSUs of the world.

I still think BYU/UConn is dicey, but BYU is football only.

I hope Boise somehow slips in as football-only. I wouldn't mind another pay day for the Big West to bring in their basketball m

Some may be tired of me posting this, but OU is not tied to OSU, as some still think and keep posting it

If true, BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and Memphis will all bring valuable content to the Big 12. Cincinnati and Memphis bring very strong basketball programs, each brings a set recent competitive football, and each brings new markets and fan bases. West Virginia would get not just one, but, conceivably, two travel partners that will help out the traveling issues that they encountered the past few years - so that's another plus. The Big 12 also gets to plant another flag down in Houston.

The only question is whether BYU is a full-member or football only.

Thats a conference thats going to take a real hit in TV contract money, NCAA basketball money and CFB Access bowl money. If you don't strengthen the FB side you're ceding the access bowl to Boise St and the MWC almost every year.

memphis isn't really a travel partner. It's only 2 hours closer than Iowa State in driving distance.

I was really hoping we could get CSU. I want to try and get back closer to a continuous footprint. I still won't believe it until I see it. I remember the WVU president just said he doesn't want to poach and destroy another conference to get members so I feel like they will only take 2 teams at most from the AAC.

My hope is BYU, CSU, UC, and UH/Memphis/Tulane.

They will go to 12. They need UMass. in as a travel partner for UConn. for all sports. Old Dominion or Southern Miss would be the 12th member.

I met with Aresco today. Arkansas Tech is #12

I doubt that. But they do stand a solid chance of winning the GAC this season.

At that point, you almost have to reinvent the American as the best of the rest conference. What a **** show, it would be so much easier for everyone if they took CSU and BYU all sports and stopped.

rumor on the big 12 forums from a guy connected to ISU AD he says the plan is UH and BYU. Then when pac GOR is up they will go after the Zona schools or CU+ASU.

I take it with a grain of salt but you never know.

Assuming all this is accurate, I think they will be all sports now. There was some rumbling last week that it would be BYU and Boise, both FB only, which is why all that football only talk started.

But when UH bumped Houston (assuming that happened last week), then apparently the B12 didn't want an odd number for Oly sports, so BYU became all sports.

Texas doesn;t care what promise WVU made when there is money sitting on the table for the taking. Same with OU and the other 7 members outside of Morgantown.
