Bran, you really believe, RG has any involvement in any of the decision making here? I seriously doubt that entirely... his involvement is probably going to people and asking "Can you write a check and how many zeroes can you put on it"?

And as noted, I wouldn't thumb my nose at ST.. he did what he could with what he had, which was pretty impressive for the most part.

Exactly. This is the reason I am glad EP is dwindling. Unfortunately, it looks as though this might be the new EP. Call me a sunshine pumper if you want, but support is support and bitching on forums all day is not support.

People "in the know", as this thread likes to put it, sure seem to think so. Mostly because they see them talking with BM all the time and discussing athletics. ST is awful and RG believed CUSA was the best we could ever be. If you think RG is just trying to get a few checks signed for us, you're kidding yourself. He's awful at fundraising anyway. Our entire athletic department is. They don't know how to approach people. If they weren't so proud of themselves, they'd hire Hammond as a fundraiser because dude can talk to people and does get donations for the military program CONSTANTLY.

But we're in the middle of needing to show we're improving ourselves and we can't find the money to upgrade our awful basketball arena. When we get left behind again, we can blame ourselves just as much as anyone else.

Can't argue with the General Hammond comment. He's in his element with fundraising for the military program. However, Reed Green is the third item on the totem pole currently. It'll come. Just the Bower facility and the locker room/nutrition upgrades come first. This administration is not doing as bad of a job as the chicken littles on EP would have us all believe.

RG, we do agree on.. the man hit his plateau. But if he's doing anything more than trying to fundraise for the Athletic Dept, I'd be really surprised.

I'm pretty sure it's been about exactly a year since the bower center project was announced. Not anywhere close to 2. But don't let facts get in the way of your story. Also, to say Shelby Thames hurt our athletics department is silly. He gave them anything and everything they wanted if he could find a way to pay for it. But once again, don't let facts get in the way of your BS narrative that you pulled out of thin air. RG doesn't have anything to do with any major decisions we make. He's irrelevant.

Also, as was stated above, if our fans spent as much time trying to build our school up as they do trying to belittle it, we'd be in a lot better shape. What does the constant complaining do for you ? It sure doesn't help improve our athletic department. We could have the greatest AD in the history of college athletics, and at least 30% of our fans would say he's terrible. Because they think everybody is terrible. They have no reason to think that. They just feel cool when they say it, because they think it makes them sound like experts.

For the Shelby Thames haters, name 2 things that he did to hurt our athletics department.

I think the reason people think st and rg are still connected is that Bill does listen to some of the same people. RG imo quit the day the end zone project got going. I talked to him at the first of his time and he mentioned adding on but said about suites and boxes "that wont happen in my lifetime".
Hammond is in the position he can help the university the most. The nursing program on coast that we have the grant for could be huge down the road.
Im not bashing him as some accuse but he was in charge of the ec for a period and we saw no growth, other than the student ec. One project he tried to start was a organized base of volunteers to work with the ec in outlying areas. Ive always thought that was much needed but for some reason after a few meetings it was dropped.

Louisville has increased their budget by almost 80 Million....Their AD got it done..and got it done Big Time.
SM has increased the budget by about 8 million....still no plan, no vision, no brain.

Constructive, intelligent data and sources and then proposing what there can be done to improve the situation (I admit you posted a link to athletic budget sizes, well then propose to us how we can increase our size or why we cannot succeed with a budget of our size).
