There only home series so far has been UMass and they drew around 700 for each game. Later they host two games against UAH, UMass-Lowell, Princeton, BU and one game vs Quinnipiac at Oceanside. Also have two game series vs Penn St and one game vs QU at Gila River. They also host a tourney in Vegas.

They are on the road alot.

Arizona State's plan for a 5000 seat arena next to their existing Wells Fargo Arena may be approved Thursday. If it is approved, expect the NCHC to be interested in expansion again when that new arena opens.

Just a week ago, there was a tweet by somebody associated with UNLV's club team to watch out for them to go varsity. Arizona St just won their first tournament in Vegas. The UND hocky benefactor's trust is based in Vegas, and some posters say that it could put up money to start a program. That trust has already given UNLV sigificant donations when they started a new med school. Vegas has existing rinks that would work. Arizona St needs a regional rival and UNLV could work.

I recall hearing rumblings on UNLV a 18 months or so ago when the LV Knights got announced. Probably the 2nd most logical of the hot SW cities behind Phoenix to have a college team.

With the interest in college hockey at Arizona St and now maybe UNLV, any chance NAU gets back in the business? On paper, they are the perfect school and with two programs now close enough to compete against, it could work. Plus, it would easily be the marquee program on campus.

Lack of proper ice would be the biggest stumbling block. But I'd love it.

Well, UNLV has interest, but the athletic department says they require a $25-30 million initial investment and $1.5 million annually to bring in the sport and keep it afloat until it stabilizes. That's basically as close to saying "no" without actually saying it as you'll get. I can't imagine NAU has that kind of money or the support base in place. Considering what a trash heap their non-CC programs are, why would they want to spend that much to compete with ASU and UNLV? Judging by this article, they seem very happy to compete in the ACHA. They're adding a rink to the fieldhouse, and right now it seats 1500, which is way too small for a western NCAA school.
