Ya if we beat bama we might be in line for a playoff... Was it ever a possibility. Highly doubtful.
You had no chance at a playoff, but you did with a NY Six bowl. If you played a great game and kept it close. All you need then is to run the table and win your conference and have Houston to lose to Louisville and one or two more conference losses and then you would be in the discussion.

If we ran the table and Houston lost to UofL + 1 in conference (those are big bunch of ifs all around) then I think we would have just as good a chance as anyone else at the NY6. At this point I am not worried about it either way. Too much football left to be played to jump to conclusions.

RE: ********WKU / Alabama game thread********
Proud of our OL and DL today, really thought those two units outplayed USC's last week....Both held their own against BAMA...Secondary ours vs them was not close which is expected...BAMA has an NFL secondary, WRs, RBS, QBs...They could not run against us but their freshmen QB is solid and does not make mistakes..
Game went about like I thought it would...Wish White would have played better, but he got hit a few times and I think that caused him to rush even when he did not have too....Lamp made a lot of cash today having a solid game as well as Taylor, those 2 will be drafted come APril....White did miss a lot of open WRs today, you could tell with Norris how animated he was with White....White should be ok next game, he just needs to get limit his mistakes and trust Brohm and he will be ok the rest of the way....I think our 3rd string QB might be the guy if WHite falters any, but I still think WHite has what it takes...Also our big RB was out this game as well as Wales with a bad hamstring.....

Now you see what we've gone thru for years....(IF you throw Bama outta our record against SEC teams, it really ain't that bad, but when you win only 1 outta 9 or ten times against them--only at their place--it is a perceived SEC dominance that isn't really there) ......You can play a decent game and Bama will just wear yo' azzz down..
The problem is this: When Bama beats USC by a brazillion, USC is still the mighty USC....when they beat a good C-USA team, the football world says we just aren't worthy of being on the same field...
Eagle Beaver speak with forked tongue, especially when eating at buffet..But Eagle Beaver speak the truth..Who wins AT Alabama, AT Auburn, AT LSU, AT Georgia,,Very big hill to climb for anyone..Yet USM has climbed that hill with all those teams..All AWAY games for the Eagles...

We did not have a easy task, nobody that plays Bama will. They are just on another level than any other team . We gave them a better fight than USC did
1 Bama
Massive gap
You guys did very well against the Tide. Played hard and it wasn't easy for Bama...Congrats...

WKU will be tough to beat this year.
They did really well containing Bama's run game.....which almost no one does.

What is your ******* deal? It would be one thing if WKU fans were on the AAC Board talking ****, but you have to come on here with this crap? I hope a UConn type team hands you your ass this year...Karma, Douchebag!

Did anyone else notice the kid from Alabama carrying the wrestling belt on his shoulder after the INT?
I watch both the USC and WKU games and both were very similiar except Alabama executed flawlessly against USC. Alabama had a ton of penalties against WKU, one holding that call back a TD pass and also a dropped TD pass. Several third down penalties where they had gotten the first down but force them to punt. (third and long)
All in all couldnt really tell much from this game, how will WKU compete with the top of CUSA? Playing Alabama is almost like playing a FCS, the talent is on a different level.

I honestly thought WKU played well. Hurt themselves a few times but you can tell they have talent and can play.

Thought Western played really well on defense..actually looked like they belong on the same field with Bama. Gave up too many key 3rd down plays and a few big plays...who doesn't. But for a day when the offense was not moving the ball and 100 degrees on the field and the Western defense getting pounded on by larger players...
this is the defense I expected Western to have this year
Only a very few teams can play straight up defense without giving up one part of the game. Western is not in that group. So it showed at times when the QB had all day to throw. It showed on giving up a few long plays. But overall a good game plan and a good carried out game plan.
Offense is another story...I expected more. Maybe not a lot more, but more. I expected to move the ball better but it did ot happen. I think after two games we have seen our new QB's strengths and weakness...
given time he can hit passes down the field
when rattled he can't
given time he can checkdown and hit the 2nd or 3rd receiver
put pressure on him he gets locked on one receiver...even when he has time
Overall pleased with the defense but question are still there about how the defense will handle pass happy teams. Offense still needs to show improvement in the short game and running attack. But probably the two easiest areas to improve in
After two games if Western can find something in the middle of the Rice and Bama game....last game of the season could be for the east championship.
