Nope ... that's not the Apple way!

The Apple way is to make a gajillion proprietary, trademarked dongles and adapters so that you have to then pay them $100's more in tiny little enormously overpriced adapters that are easy to lose and can only be legitimately manufactured with Apple's blessing (read: lots of money going to Apple).
