Activist may ask players to protest ..

http://temple-news.com/news/protest-inte...omecoming/

There has always been a number of Temple students and employees that were anti-football. So I am not surprised that they still exist.
The Stadium Stompers consist of a small group of these folks along with some community members. Their meetings normally attract 25 to 200 people. Lately they have been meeting weekly and with school in session they are more active now.

Note towards the end of the meeting one member suggest trying to enlist current Temple football players in the anti stadium movement. He suggest that they approach them from a racial viewpoint.

The 2nd link describes the Stadium Stompers surprise protest at the Pep Rally for the football game and homecoming. Most of the students were pissed at having their fun interrupted. Shame on the university police for allowing this to happen. I always thought that protest groups required permits...

Now I've heard it all. NE Philly by temple is a dump. The neighborhood is run down and dilapidated. You will find garbage littering the street and cars parked or driving on the sidewalk. This project wouldn't just inject energy into the athletics program, it would reinvigorate the community and their local economy.

But, when nice things are on the horizon, Philly can't help but revert to its core self...bat poop crazy bag lady self. To suggest this is racist is just a cherry on top...the level of stupid is impressive.

Dude, as much as I don't like the Stadium Stompers, they completely have the right to protest.

I guess its a racial thing bc of the potential for gentrification in neighborhoods around the stadium?

So a stadium creates more white people? Also gentrification is another code word for bad white people. Please.... I guess all neighborhoods should be segregated? So much racial ridiculousness the last 8 yrs.

I hate all this BS, I watch sports to get away from the crap. I don't watch anything other than college FB and occasionally BB. I gave up on NFL a few years back. Sport leagues wonder why their ratings are dropping, this is a big part of it.

Sorry, North Philly. It's still a absolute dump. And i note you didn't try to correct that statement.

The stadium and any Temple facility upgrades would be a good thing for the community. Sadly, it's Philly so the red tape and needy pockets are many.

North Philly encompasses a very, very large area. I don't think anyone would call Fairmount, NoLibs, and much of Brewerytown dumps.
