This Marshall offense does not remotely resemble the one led by Rakeem Cato. It will show multiple sets but.....
This season the Marshall rushing game is nothing short of abysmal, averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and it has gotten worse over the course of the season
QB Chase Litton has a 62% completion rate, and is averaging 7.8 yards per attempt.
He has thrown a whopping 7 INTs.
Marshall's 4-3 defense has been equal opportunity Swiss cheese, with a slight edge given to their rushing D.

The ODU offense is very capable with both run and pass, determined game to game by the health of a banged up OL. We have three big receivers, two great RBs and a good mobile QB.
The ODU defense is better (lately) vs the pass. The Dline has surprisingly struggled as of late, especially against the run.

While the USM/Marshall score was fairly close, the statistics were not.

One paper this game is not close......however the Herd is still loaded with talent. At some point they could have a breakout game. I hope it is not against us.

I think you have it switched. On paper this is a close competitive game but on the field maybe not. Marshall is #123 and ODU is #114 in Sagarin. ODU open as 6 pt favorite with 3 pts being home field so basically a 3 pt fav. Definitely close on paper

Looked like a fairly clean game in TV. If there was going to be a brawl, chances are, ODU wouldn't have even been involved. They would have watched our team fight each other.

Yeah there were a few. I thought we were going to get penalty for hitting QB but no one knew his knee was down. Marshall got away with throwing a punch at their sideline. I think it was 91 that ripped Butlers helmet off and threw it drawing flag. Inmentioned the guy that jumped on the pile late, but that was more comical than anything.

To all the Marshall fans: I have been waiting for this opportunity to say some things in response to a number of disparaging comments on the board over the last two years. Now that the moment is here, I just don't have the desire to do it anymore. Fact is, you have a great group of fans. I was really impressed with the group that made the trip to Norfolk and the way they hung in to the end of the game. Hate to see the troubles you guys are having, and I hope you get it straightened out soon.

Agree. Some people just like to stir it and get a rise from opposing fans. Usually Karma comes back with a vengeance. It has for us. We'll be the easy win in CUSA for the next few years. Enjoy fellas.
