He knows the drill. We're tired of talk. We want to dance.
Good luck to coaches Philips, Williamson, Johnson, and Cooper. We didn't have the sucess we wanted but it wasn't for lack of trying.

This is kind of a funny hire, we had some adamant post against hiring Doherty, actually downright nasty almost, so we don't hire Doherty, we hire his asst coach at both ND and NC. Doherty must not have been so terrible if this guy followed him and learned some basketball from him. I haven't heard anyone mention that fact yet. Maybe this guy isn't very smart or makes bad decisions if he followed that terreble Doherty wherever he went. Basically I think this is probably a solid hire until I see some results that excite me one way or the other. He needs to get an assistant with some strong Texas connections or we could be in trouble. At this point as I said, I think it's a solid hire but does that mean a consistent 16-18 game winner and an NIT bid once in a while or will it become an exciting hire---only time will tell, but for now I'll take a wait and see attitude and give him a chance to excite me!!!!

Somehow I get the feeling that TU's nation search was really to go out and try to get the best white guy they could find. Of course it's not true. TU has a history of hiring black coaches. I just wonder what happened with Nolan.

Buzz had a better chance than Nolan. From what I've heard there is a lot of bad blood and negative history between the administration and Nolan, most of which has been kept out of the public eye (and, from what I've heard, that's all the better for both sides). That's why I was so obnoxious regarding the issue. The whole thing was soooo silly...
It's a really weird story, too. I guess I made a lot of people really mad: Big Al even called me out on the radio. At one point, I started receiving information from other people who wanted me to keep them confidential, but I guess were trying to give me more to post. I tried to keep with the information in the public record because I think that alone is pretty damning.
Even if that history wasn't there, my understanding is that Nolan is still burnt out and that we don't want him.

I can't imagine that Nolan's phone is ringing off the hook...
