I guess you can hate someone who isn't your rival. I do hate LSU, for example. But if they ARE your rival, that means by definition that you hate them. If you don't hate them, you aren't rivals.

Not sure where we're even going with this anymore, so let's reel this back in. When I hear "who do you hate" I immediately think of rivalries as your rivals are generally who you hate, especially within a conference.

My original point was that La Tech and UTSA are not rivals, and the majority of Tech fans do not hate UTSA, nor should they.

I don't hate or even dislike MTSU. I understand the history but never saw them as a rival for us.

But Marshall... boy, I love to screw up Marshall's day. Nothing makes me happier than taking a piss in their cheerios. I personally don't think Moonshine Throwdown is a great name for the rivalry since neither BG or Huntington is located in Appalachia, but w/e.

We don't have any rivals because everyone with whom we had one has moved on. I still wish a pox upon Louisville. We & TCU had some good back-and-forth. USF are dirty-playing sons o' ******* who can choke on that pirate ship in their rented stadium. What we had with ECU over the years was outstanding.

I hate you uteppers! I have ever since y'all got into CUSA, along with Rice, Tulsa, and SMU, and left us on an eastern island in the WAC. But, I don't hate Rice. Feel sorry for 'em actually. Wait! No I don't.

UTSA is dirty and their fans have a sense of entitlement. Every time we play them the game gets chippy. There is cussing, pushing and shoving after every play. And, sometimes even the players get into it on the field too!

As for USM....hmmmm....

Hate LaThug with their sense of entitlement and arrogance. UNT is right behind LaThug. UNT thinks they belong in a P5. They think their crap don't stink.

28 is certainly mistaken. I know a ton of Tech fans outside of this board that hate UTSA's guts. Both the Tech boards are overrun with UTSA hatred. Just ask em.

Your team deserved the invitation more than we did. Twelve years down the road it was the wrong move for both the conference and us. I believe had La Tech received the invitation instead of UTEP we would most likely be in the MW right now and CUSA would have a tighter more regional footprint.

Not exactly. You are one of the few fans I have ever heard from that had a mutual disinterest in UTSA-Tech. The games are usually close and dirty. The Tech Student section has been known to get very rowdy with the Visitors section at UTSA games. This is the ONLY and I mean ONLY game where I have seen that. Outside of this board, I had never heard ANYONE care one iota about UTSA. I had heard our players didn't get along very well, but I had never heard a fan say they disliked UTSA. To most students, UTSA is the same as UTEP, Rice, and UNT. Just another Texas team we expect to beat. The only school we hate is USM.

FWIW I started a poll on Twitter asking Tech fans who our biggest rival is. 5 people have voted, and all 5 said Southern Miss. I realize that's a small sample, but we'll see how it pans out.

From a student perspective, La Tech and UTSA are not rivals, and will continue to not be rivals until they pose a threat (which may come sooner than I'd like).

Your poll is misleading and totally off base. Southern Miss is our biggest rival. We "HATE" UTSA. There is a huge difference, hence the thread. BTW, I was in a Fraternity, it helped me out a lot over the years.

I've been a student since we joined C-USA (2013).

And to me, there isn't a difference. You hate your rivals. I'm happy anytime USM loses, but I root for UTSA in OOC games, just like I do most other C-USA teams.

We have no reason to hate UTSA that I can see. The only time they've beaten us was in 2013, when everyone beat us (except Southern Miss ). I guess I can see where they might dislike us, seeing as we've played every year of their existence except 2011. But to us, they are no different than UNT, Rice, or UTEP. In fact, we've played all three of those more times than UTSA.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. But as someone who is involved with the Loyal Blue Nation, I've never heard a single student say anything to indicate they hate UTSA or think of UTSA as any different than the other Texas schools.
