I think what's most alarming is some of the students that rushed the field look like they should be on the team. Particularly the flower chick in the cowboy boots.

??? You mean the Asian girl who looks like she is 5'2" and weighs 95-100 lbs?

Yep. Backup linebacker at Kansas. Pushing for starting time. Kansas might have been a decent FB program if Mark Mangino had stopped eating people.

Then maybe they should have gone to a FBS school.

Or maybe they decided to go to a school whose administration promised we'd be FBS by now. I can play that game.

I hope our students aren't that dumb.

Mary: "Hey Jane, you decided where you are going to college?"

Jane: "Well, it's between William & Mary, UVA, Tech and JMU. I'm thinking of going to JMU because their administration promised it would be Div 1A in football by now."

Mary: "What? Are you high?"

Mary: "Hey Jane, you decided if you are going to pay up for BFS club seats? Considering you don't live in H'burg, that would be a huge financial and time sacrifice!"

Except we went through the club area seating 4 year cycle and had Club seat renewals and we are still selling out BFS essentially every game and have one of the highest attendances in FCS. I guess building new BFS to play NEC non-scholarship football programs is working out for JMU after all. If BFS was seeing average attendance of 15K then I could see arguing that it was a poor investment. It was built so we could sell it out and we are. It was built so that JMU could attract the best recruits and we are. It was built so JMU could use it to support a move to FBS if the right conference became an option and it will when it does.

I am still not sure why this keeps coming up as a point of contention.
( a ) Moving to FBS G-5 is not going to move the needle for the casual fan as the casual fan would not see a home game vs Troy or E. Michigan as being any different than Stony Brook or Maine.
( b ) Moving to G5 is not going to dramatically increase attendance because how could it when we are already selling the number of tickets we do. It might mean absolute sellouts but that is is like 2.3% more tickets sold over the course of the season which is negligible.
( c ) Moving to G5 might increase demand for tickets and since we are already almost selling out BFS that means the new demand, if anything, will just raise the ticket prices as JMU cannot and will not add new seats anytime soon.
( d ) In the mean time JMU's prerogative is to visit a P5/high level G5 each year and get paid to do so to support our athletic budget and fill in the schedule from there to put JMU in the best position to be a top 2 seed (top 4 seed at worst) and host some playoff games.

I'm not sure why this continues to be a point of contention, moving to FBS G5 means University of Miami comes to town, Wake Forest comes to town, NC State comes to town, you get a 2 - 1 with UVA coming to town along with some cash, Tech signs multi year home and home games. Each are facts that the most recent move-ups are experiencing, but you cannot seem to grasp the concept that instead of one game against the Heels along with a game against Morehead and another with CCSU, you have your first game against the Tennessee Vols, game two against ODU, game three against Uni. of Miami Hurricanes, and game four against Akron. This is fact not something pulled out of the air.

RE: CCU-Kansas
Were any of my four comments not 100% factual in response to the post that I quoted?

My post was not a post about FBS vs FCS at all... Did Appy State have a good schedule and a good season... yes they did. That was not at all relevant to the topic I was discussing which was this quote specifically: "who the f##k is dumb enough to build a stadium like BFS to play NEC non-scholarship football programs"
