You make a great point. Not only did we not lose any we stole one. These coaches have done a great job in this recruiting season.

Monk's 1st year was coming off the ole 0-12, so ya can't blame em.

Yes, BUT, the team underperformed last year. Typical of a first year coaching staff but still there are questions about the future in many people's mind. This is a solid list for this staffs first real recruiting class all things considered.

Just looking at overall rankings (which mean virtually nothing as we all know) our recruiting class is solid by our standards. Looks like we had the 2nd best class in CUSA and beat out a lot of our former conference members. Ranked #71 on rivals. that's actually a little above average over the last few years I think. Good job coach. We'll see what happens this year with a new QB....lots of questions.

Great point Head. Can't overlook the effort put in the last few games of the football season as well as the recruiting progress made with his first true USM recruiting class. Based on Rivals, he did a solid job. Was equally surprised to see schools like Houston, South Florida and Colorado St behind us considering the financial resources and facilities at those schools.

Didya see the video of the Rodriquez kid throwing a spiral from the 50 yd line all the way to back of end zone, actually hittin' the gold post? (60 yards + I believe 04-cheers)

Were we that much smarter about this kid than anyone else?

Did he hit the goal post on purpose? I've seen a few guys over the years that could toss a football quite a ways. But if they can't hit the broad side of a barn, it really doesn't help much. Not saying he can't, I really don't know. If he can... awesome.

Nope. He was trying to unload it to his safety valve RB, and it just got away from him. 03-lmfao

I actually have no idea.

I ll give you a serious response since only the nattering nabobs of negativism seemed to respond. If the kid threw it without taking a running start and winding up then it is fairly impressive for a high school kid. Not many can do it. It would indicate that he has more than enough arm strength to be succesful. Accuracy , athleticism and football smarts obviously need to be part of the equation also. Who knows if we were smarter but I do know that many, many succesful college quarterbacks were not highly recruited and that trend continues even in the internet era . They are just hard to evaluate . More so than any other position .

Nah..I've not seen much like you have, ol' magnificent one....

I've watched every USM QB from Vic Purvis to Tommy Boutwell to Rick Donegan to Jeff Bowah to The Great Dane McDaniel to Reggie/Reggie/Reggie to Robert Ducksworth to Brett Favor to The "Slanger from Stranger" to Lee Roberts to Dustin Almond to Austin Davis to Nick Mullens, LIVE......so I might know a thing or three about what QB's can, and cannot do..

So go away kid, you bother me.04-cheers

He indeed was the man. At over throwing wide open receivers behind everyone. Did it about a hunert times in the bowl game against Okie St. would have won that game if his arm wasn't so 'strong'.
