What was your first car?

1973 Chrysler Newport. The front seats laid back so far as to create a bed. I thought this was the car that the B-52's sang about “I got me a Chrysler, it seats about twenty so hurry up and bring your jukebox money" I did fit 14 teenagers in it going to the midnight movie at I-275 theater in Milford one time. 0-60 in about four minutes but 60-120 three seconds. Did get up that far one time. Wish I still had it. Got it from my grandpa for free.

1973 Plymouth Duster 340. I loved that car. I totaled it in a single car accident by losing control on a wet rainy road and flipping it. My uncle was in the car with me and he was pounding beers (I hadn't drank yet that evening). We flipped the car over a hill, fortunately landing so that neither of us were injured. Farmer came out to see if we were ok and my uncle had spilled his open beer all over me. He still was carrying around his 12 pack, lol.

1971 Ford Mustang Grande. Sat in my grandparents garage for years after my aunt [who owned it] had an aneurysm. They gave it to me when I turned 17. Had some rust on the rear quarter panels and some cracks on the dash top but otherwise it was in good condition. It had a pretty decent standard 302 V8. I loved driving it but ended up crashing it out on a county road - lost control in a turn and hit a telephone pole. Thank the Lord no one else was in the car. That's all she wrote on that one.

RE: What was your first car?
1986 Honda Civic si - Red, 91 hp, 5 speed, manual sunroof, busted air conditioning, installed nice stereo and speakers (not crazy-arse bass though). Commuted to and lived in Clifton from '96-'01 with it. Possibly the perfect college car. Difference between the si and other '86 Civics was fuel injection. I'd love to drive that car again. Blew the engine first week of my job after graduating, on my way into the office downtown. Coincidentally, the same day, my wife of 3 months had an accident on her way home from work (not her fault) and her car (Carolla - boring car) was totalled. Crazy day! That was a long time ago and we just laugh about it today. My wife is still hot and I drive a GTI now (4 doors of course because I have 3 kids now).

RE: What was your first car?
Mine was a 1967 Plymouth Satellite Sebring. Was my older brothers car. had a blown engine when i got it. My dad and a friend put in a engine. Wrecked it on 74 on the Bridge of 128 in Miamitown driving home from 3rd shift in college was snowing at the time hit an ice patch. Had the big mags in the back. That did not help with the ice.
Edit:
Below was the closest I could find of mine. But mine was Brown with no stripe.

1987 Dodge Dakota

I paid $2800 for it, drove it for 13 years and over 100,000 miles. Best money I've ever spent. Look closely at the picture; this Dakota was one of a kind 03-wink

1988 Toyota MR2 Red 5 speed. Cool car. I kinda miss it. The trunk in the front and the back were always a good conversation starter.

I have been searching to buy one. I found a dead duplicate for only $40k but it was in Australia. So having it check over and then shipped made that deal die. Still looking.

1977 Chevy Monte Carlo

[Image: 1977-Chevrolet-Monte%20Carlo-american-cl...=%23f5f5f5]

Thing was huge...like driving a barge...V8, lots of power...BUT...bad carburetor, bad timing belt, the custom speakers I put in it were stolen, the custom stereo I installed would vibrate on rough road and make the cassettes ride funny across the heads and garble the sound...and it also finally rusted.

What a car...
