Lsu further guarantees their perpetual mediocrity with this hire.

Wouldn't Evans have to sit out a year? I highly doubt he wants to do that.

Yes Evans would have to sit out. They can have Rhoades and Evans tho; good luck with that.

Losing Mo, JayQuan, Hamdy, Doug Brooks, Baby Bi*ch Burgess, and Torey Burston.

I've already read somewhere that Wade said he could swing two of his recruits with him to LSU so with all of those guys leaving, and possibly taking 2/4 recruits, yeah I think they stagger a bit.

All depends who they bring in for the job.

The "fan base" (bandwagon) of vcu here in Richmond is so delusional it's actually comical. They can't figure out why a coach would leave vcu and the city of Richmond. "It's like they use vcu as a stepping stone." Ummm yeahhh.... ?

Anyways... time for me to go into work and break up a few fights and arguments with a school system in this wonderful city of Richmond!

Everyone have a wonderful day!! 02-13-banana03-nutkick04-cheers

Did Rhoades interview for the job when they hired Wade?

For whatever it's worth, I think we should still be hoping they get a decent hire and continue their success. We should be striving to move up to their level, not bring them down to ours. Hope that wasn't too depressing of a thought.

Indeed.
To repeat myself, when VCU lost their recruits when Shaka left, their 247 recruiting class rank dropped to #70, their only time out of the top 50 in recent memory, including a top 25.

We on the other hand, have our first top 100 (#86 for 2017) in recent memory, not to mention our NCCAT appearances vs those of VCU in recent years.

no he removed his name from consideration.
Why would Rhodes go backward to that job, a stepping stone, 1 and done in the NCAA and then look for another job

With the commitment they've made to hoops, they won't take that long to regain momentum. They are hoops-centric with a phenomenal performance center and an in-game environment that kids love to play in. Music, chants, and energy keeps their students coming, which keeps the recruits coming.

Even with a barely above average hire, VCU will be back in two years max.

Because you can't win at Rice?

Agreed. They are past the point where the program dies because they don't make a perfect hire. Just need to avoid making a bad hire.

Eh. Its a little too early for that.

Better question is why the does anybody go coach at that school, football or basketball. Obviously the culture is a disaster and it seems pretty clear at this point that it is damn near impossible to win big there right now.

Its crazy to me that of all the options Shaka had, he chose that one.

I, for one, think JJ is the perfect fit for VCU and highly recommend that they do everything possible to get him signed. I mean he is a legend in this state. He has done a remarkable job turning around a woefully downtrodden ODU program. He will probably not bail on them after 2 years. I think he checks all the boxes!

He even runs COVAH defense where he is constantly having a person cover someone else, it's truly remarkable and a movement the city of Richmond will certainly get behind.

RE: The Decline of VCU Basketball
Before throwing stones, we need to look in the mirror ourselves. Coaches leave VCU with regularity because it is an established program that routinely makes the NCAA tourney, and their next position is always a "step up". Coaches leave ODU to go to rehab or Trembling Hills retirement villa after mediocre seasons. I loathe VCU with every fiber of my being, but they are just better now, and probably will continue to be through this latest coaching change. I celebrate their tears, but that sweet taste does not elevate ODU one bit.

Right on point...and regardless of coaching changes they continue to make the NCAA tournament. Us on the other hand have not sniffed the NCAAs in over 5 years.

Our divergent paths have a lot to do with this. The fact that they are in the A-10 makes it substantially easier for them to make the NCAA's than it is for us in CUSA. That said, I would not trade our position for theirs if it meant we had to revert to FCS football, or like them, have no football at all.
