I don't know what it is, but for some reason the phrase "re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic" keeps coming to mind as I read this thread.

Wow, you think Rice athletics is the Titanic? Dude, we haven't been anything close to that in half-a-century or more!

At a later date, when asked to explain how he had come to be a hero, Kennedy replied laconically, "It was involuntary. They sank my boat."

Can we build something like this, from old branding and logos, for The MOB's hill?
We've already got one soon-to-be-old logo, thanks to track coach Davidson.
The SabreOwl has long been my favorite logo (I am fond of the OER as well).

Why do we have to spend the money to develop a new logo which will u doubtedly mean all new uniforms, stationery, etc. when the money could have been spent on scholarships for the kids or money for more coaches??

That's what sports organizations do. It's part of the game, so to speak.

Seems like winning is also something they do. Oops I forgot that we are too unconventional for that too lofty an expectation.

According to the release, the Dallas-based marketing firm Torch Creative has been working with adidas for two years on the redesign. This is Torch Creative's website, which displays their portfolio. I wonder if we can hazard any guesses on what the redesign is, based on their past work:

Nope. Binghamton did not command PT-73. He was the base commander. Capt. McHale and Ensign Parker lead PT-73.

Never mind! I see the error you were pointing out.

SS Minnow? ("... for a 3-hr cruise. A 3-hr cruise...")

I haven't posted in a very long while. Not sure why this brought me out of hibernation. Ok... back to sleep.

Maybe the new logo will be a Live Oak Tree. With a pile of owl pellets underneath....

The OER will defintely stay, and Dr. K has said as much. Far too much has been invested in it's use to eliminate it now. My guess is that is will be incorporated within a simple owl graphic...but he OER will remain as a standalone on hats, etc.

Good deal....the OER is one of the classiest looks in all of collegiate athletics. And I say that as unbiased as possible. It really is a great look. Getting rid of it would hurt my soul.

Is football moving to white helmets this year? Pics from spring practice and scrimmages show all players wearing white helmets. The logo for our game in Sydney also has the white helmet with the blue old English R.
