Bury and Bolton are only the start. Over the next 5-10 years we will see a lot more clubs go away from the EFL.

I wonder if that means that the EFL/EPL will finally reach out to Celtic, Rangers and some of the other profitable SPL teams like they should've done 20 years ago?

Do you mean for the Premier League? Would either team accept? I know it may be exciting to play PL teams; however, more than likely both teams European aspirations would be greatly diminished. Granted, PL money would be nice.

Celtic and Rangers would accept an invite before they even open the damn envelope. The SPL grants them around the same media dollars as League One, while both teams normally draw more for weekly fixtures than 2/3rds of the Premier League (each had average attendance over 45,000 last season). I have no doubt that were they to get PL money for a few years, they both would be at least mid-table PL sides, with the potential to be EL teams on some years.

I mean, the fact that a Top 20 global brand, with a 60,000 person stadium and over 100 trophies (including two European pieces of silver) who plays in the 3rd largest city in the UK is languishing in the SPL is sad beyond reason. Celtic have deserved better for years...and I bet every fan would be 100% on board with an invite to League 2 or the proposed League 3, because they'd make it up to at least the Championship with a few consecutive promotions.

Makes sense. Thanks for the info. I was just curious as to if the loss of CL income would be a concern. Speaking of which, the CL draw is today.

Celtic haven't gotten CL income for the past few years, so it wouldn't be much of a worry...and the prospect of playing teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, Man United, Arsenal, etc. week in and week out for the season would probably boost the season ticket fees by 50% with no issue at all. They are sold out every year with prices on par for the EPL while playing the Dundee Uniteds and Hamilton Academicals of the world.

The English teams all get managable CL group. Spurs will have a tough time with Bayern and Olympiacos but its better than our last 2 groups. Chelsea has some tricky games as well.

Group D and Group F....Yikes.

Poor Slavia Praha. At least they'll make some money via ticket sales.

Their representatives were laughing in the crowd when their draw was announced.

I saw that. They know they have no chance; however, their fans will get to see three great home matches and have at least two great cities to travel to for away matches. It's a win for the fans.

Decent draw for Real Madrid and Group D and F are really strong. Group G is very balanced and Group H has the Americans Pulisic, Weah, and Dest. That acceptance speech by Cantona was something else!

What else are you going to do with a draw like that. Even after you have to be pretty happy. Nothing to lose and should you do well it will open a lot of eyes. Should they somehow escape that group they would become like Gonzaga, giant killers, great place to develop talent and compete, play with the big boys when given a chance. Do poorly and everyone is like what else could you expect *shrug*

I sad news, Luis Enrique, former Barca and Real Madrid player, former Barca coach that won the Treble in 2015, and former Spain coach, lost his 9 year old daughter to cancer yesterday. RIP

We all know the Premier League is flush with TV cash. However, did you know that the Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (Wolves) earnined more than Real Madrid last year with regard to TV income after only being in the PL one season? Check out this link with graph.

Biggest club revenues from TV deals in top 5 leagues 2018/19.

Even with the depleted Chelsea roster, Pulisic still sits the bench.

You think if he continues to not get playing time it will impact his status in the USMNT?

Sweet, I hope the disparity grows. The EPL has 2 of the top 3 clubs in the world right now, with the top 6 all having the potential to get there at one point or another. Maybe over time, it will help reverse the trend of the EPL losing it's best players to Barca and Madrid, and losing the mid-table sides' best players to the top 6.

It will impact the USMNT, but not his status with it. We need our players to develop or we are going to suck for years to come.

Bayern somehow won the North London derby today. There were 28 goals scored today in the Champions League. Bayern scored a quarter of them against the Spurs.
