If James Comey testifies that he did in fact have a conversation with the president where the president asked him not to pursue Flynn, then Comey is guilty of a crime for not immediately reporting it to the department of justice.

Under the law, Comey is required to immediately inform the Department of Justice of any attempt to obstruct justice by any person, even the President of the United States. Failure to do so would result in criminal charges against Comey. (18 USC 4 and 28 USC 1361) He would also, upon sufficient proof, lose his license to practice law.

So, either the memo doesnt exist, or Comey is going to jail.

Seriously, South Korea and Hong Kong both recently had their presidents go to jail. It wouldn't shock me if within the next 30-50 years, the same thing happens in the USA.

Even if Trump were 100% guilty and the memo proved it he'd be pardoned immediately by Pence. Trump is playing chess while his opponents are playing tiddlywinks. I'm more in awe of the master manipulation he's pulling off on both sides everyday.

This whole thing rests on the definition of "obstruction of justice." And even if Trump asked Comey to "lay off", as alleged, I don't see this as anything that would lead to a conviction.

I still think that Trump and Comey were just talking about their grandchildren.
