WSU Fan: I think that we will be really good this year. I'm picking us to win the league.
Fan of Different School: Lol this isn't the MVC. You guys are in a real conference now.
WSU Fan: I never said it was the MVC.... I think that we will have a very good conference.....
Fan of Different School: Then why do you think you're going to win the league so easily?
WSU Fan: I don't, I just think we have a great team and like our changes to win it. A lot of people nationally feel the same.
Fan of Different School: You Hitachi fans are so overconfident. I can't wait until my team goes 2-0 against you this season.
WSU Fan: You have a very good team that could beat us twice, but we could beat you guys twice also. Or we could split. It will be fun to see it play out.
Fan of Different School: You guys are so annoying. You aren't going to go undefeated in this conference. I can't wait until you get a rude awaking this year.

We had 3 starters missing: Markis McDuffie (foot), Landry Shamet (foot), and Shaquille Morris (illness)
Gregg Marshall commented in his typical no-BS fashion on Shaq being "ill".
Quote:“For his size, he’s the most sickly individual I’ve ever known in my life,” Marshall said. “He’s sick a lot.”
Quote:Fans took a quick liking to Haynes-Jones, a Wichita native who transferred from Hutchinsion Community College after winning a national championship. Haynes-Jones impressed with a quick first step, as he finished with five points and two steals.
“It was amazing,” Haynes-Jones said. “Looking at all of the fans when I first walked out there I was just very happy to be here in this position. It was just an amazing night.”
Quote:Wichita State also play host to a recruit in Chance Moore, a 6-foot-8 combination guard from who is ranked as a three-star prospect by 24/7 Sports.

When will your bball team be at 100 percent?
Sometime in December.
Shamet (starting PG) being out the first few weeks of the season sucks. No way around that.
McDuffie (starting SF) being out until December only sucks a little, as we have nice depth at his position.
Morris (starting C) was just down with something for a few days.

Thanks for the response.... I hope WSU is at full strength for the Baylor game, which is December 2nd. This also gives your team almost a month before starting conference play against UCONN. One huge benefit to being in this conference is that WSU will get a lot more national exposure on TV—which helps build “The American” brand….

Current reports don't have McDuffie cleared until mid-late December, so I highly doubt he is back for the Baylor game, unfortunately. He's still in a cast and on crutches. Hopefully he is back by mid-December so he can get a couple of games in before league play begins.
Shamet is supposed to start jumping etc. next week. I'm hopeful he won't miss much. Biggest problem is probably going to be getting his legs back before Maui.
We definitely have more depth/flexibility at McDuffie's position than Shamet's. But McDuffie is still one of the top players on the team and a physical/skillset mismatch against a lot of players.

If anybody is bored, have a look-see at some high-level drama from back before the season started. Husky and I went toe to toe... and he unfortunately lost. I'm not sure he realizes it to this day though.
I forgot how spirited things were in here before the thunderclaps from above scattered the natives...
