Found this on Netflix and watched it last night. Great film, and the end? Wow. When the screen went blank my wife and I both said "that can't be the end?!" but after a few moments it began to sink in and became more clear how well done it was. Really a perfect ending.

i'm glad someone else got to enjoy it. i've been talking about this film to anybody that'd listen. it's categorized as a dark comedy, the humor was lost on me. seemed more like just everyday life. which is fine by me

I'm gonna say scooping up your passed out drunk brother with a loader and dumping him in front of the hospital is pretty doggone humorous. But yeah, the circumstances feel funny but it's not really filmed to *be* funny.

yup. don't forget about his brother coming at his house with a gun. i suppose it's just a humor i'm not expecting. it all just appeared logical. i'm currently reading (i know, wrong thread), independent people by haldor laxness. they say it's about sheep. i'd say it's about sheep, dogs, coffee, and snuff.

Ha! I think one could make a similar argument the Millenium Series (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, etc) is about coffee and sandwiches.

I've seen the Dutch version of the Trilogy ( and the extended cut versions as well) as well as the Daniel Craig led remake of the first one and I don't get the coffee and sandwiches comment.

I think we should have clarified what constitutes the ending. Is the last 10 minutes or the last 20?
Well, Roy and Deckard duking it out was cool....but I meant the Unicorn stuff....
Blade Runner is an outstanding movie. I loved it when it hit the theaters in 1982 and it only gets better with age.
I only wish it had been set further in the future. 2059 would have worked just fine with the world Dick/Scott created. After reading these comments, I watched it again last night. "The Final Cut" is my personal favorite. Even though the movie has enjoyed growing success over the years, I still believe it is ahead of it's time. In another 20 or 30 years it may be viewed among the greatest ever.
I am apprehensive about the new Blade Runner. On one hand I'm excited and can't wait to see the movie. On the other hand, I'm certain it will not be as good as the first, and could end up being the ugly sequel everyone hates... Like the Star Wars prequels, or Godfather Part 3.

I can't quite remember the first time I saw it. TV, VHS, or dvd....not sure... the whole concept of it really grabbed me though. Then, once I got turned onto see Ghost in the Shell I was amazed about how similar the philosophy was between the two and their concepts in some regards. And then the burning question left to you at the end... was Deckard a replicant? And it was as circular of proof for one side or the other as it was in say Basic Instinct.
Then, I heard about all the different endings each "cut" of the movie and so when the extended BR version that had all the edits on it I usually watch the DC Unrated version.

I have the 1992 VHS release, the DVD director's cut, and the 2013 Final Cut Blu-Ray.
If you search on Yotube, there is an interview where Ridley Scott actually admits Deckard is a replicant, but I don't know if the new film will adhere to the claim. You can also find old film reviews from 1982 that were less then kind. Most people just didn't understand it.

Because I am referring to the books.
i noticed the coffee in the movie. didn't read the books but read an article about the author. he would guzzle pots of cheap black coffee, chain smoke, and write in a hurry. some say that's what killed him so young. who knows. and there's a curious thing, does any european country drink coffee the way us states' folk do? man, they hate american brewed joe and while i love espresso, it's too dainty
