While obviously I agree with her, I also don't care for that stuff in my sports. I don't go to ESPN (at all anymore) for politics, I went for stats and scores. However they ditched just stats and scores long ago (which is why I ditched them long ago). On the one hand, I commend her for using her position and platform to further bring attention to the problems we are facing, BUT I just want my sports. Who am I to tell someone to "shut up" about something they are passionate about and needs being addressed, while indeed wanting her to "shut up". Now, in all fairness, had I not seen this thread I wouldn't have known she said this as I grew tired of the E in ESPN a while back, only use their content for live sports. There are plenty of ways to consume non-live sporting content without the fluff.
As to what has transpired in the last few posts, its very easy to not hate. A leader should not spew hateful or bigoted comments about any race, country, or group of people. Examples were given of the leader of one of the most powerful nations in the world spreading hateful rhetoric, and you had to justify it. "Its not racist because Mexican isn't a race", well, it was still hateful. People chanting "blood and soil" were described as "fine people" from a 21st century US president. We live in a world where tolerance was just compared to a cult. I'm sorry you feel that way, that unity and tolerance is "noble but stupid" and something we shouldn't strive for.
The other thing to note is Hill did not say it on the air and their show is mostly devoid of politics unless there is a big story. She said it on her twitter feed. Sportscenter isn't supposed to be a political show and they mostly avoid politics on their show, but that doesn't mean she has to be silent outside of her show.
Well there you go, its all good then. Good on her for using her personal twitter to do it. Not following a persons twitter account is even easier than cancelling a cable subscription.
The only problem with this is Curt Schilling being fired from ESPN for expressing his conservative views on his Facebook page.
Otherwise, I tend to agree persons should be allowed to pontificate on their private accounts outside of work.

RE: ESPN removes announcer Robert Lee from UVA game
ESPN jumped the shark years ago. I watch live sports on their channels - that's it. Getting back to the subject of this thread, if would be more offensive it TT covered one of our games than if Robert Lee covered a game in Charlottesville. I'm taking bets on it happening though.

My response was because as host of the 6 o'clock sports center she is a face of their organization. I don't think a representative of their organization should be engaging in politics generally but certainly shouldn't be calling people white supremacists. I don't take offense because honestly I didn't vote for the guy anyway.
What I am offended by is an organization that is not in the politics business allows their representative to say these types of hateful things and is still on Sports center the next night. We have enough channels for people to get their political fix for whatever side you support, that is not ESPN'S role.
How is calling a spade a spade "hateful"? Calling someone who supports white supremacist policies a white supremacist seems perfectly reasonable to me.
Additionally, hard to blame Hill for having a platform and standing up against racism and prejudice and the seemingly vilification of minorities by Trump and the alt-right that so much of the country seems to be ok with
I have a project for you--read the material posted at the following website:
http://www.americannaziparty.com/faq.php
and draw comparisons and contrasts to the following organizations and belief systems:
BLM
Occupy Wall Street
The Nation of Islam
Marxism
The tenets of Sharia law
Leninism
The Socialist Party of America
I think you'll be somewhat startled....
Oh...as a sidebar, list the policies of the Trump administration that are close parallels to the information contained in the above website....
