Sources: Basketball agency ASM Sports was raided today. FBI had warrant, took Andy Miller's computer.

3:03 PM - 26 Sep 2017

Miller runs the agency at which indicted agent Christian Dawkins used to work.

Wonder what the FBI might find on his computer...

That's the belief around here but who knows with the UofL. The news was originally supposed to break tonight but Jurich is out of town & can't make it back until sometime tonight.

RE: Asst hoops coaches at Auburn, Arizona, USC, Ok St arrested and indicted by feds
The feds are rattling these guys' cages to let them know the feds mean business, and presumably to get them to give up solid information implicating bigger fish (including head coaches).

USC assistant Tony Bland was led into court in handcuffs and ankle chains for his bail hearing.

Prosecutors said Arizona assistant Book Richardson faces a maximum of 60 years in prison if convicted. If, for example, the feds give Richardson a choice between a long prison term and giving them enough information to go after Sean Miller or some executive from Nike (Arizona's team is Nike-sponsored), which option do you think Richardson will choose?

The word is that both Jurich & Pitino have been fired & there is a press conference scheduled for 1pm. The interim president has reportedly asked Jurich several times to fire Pitino since he took the interim position & Jurich had refused every time. It seems that Jurich didn't give the president a choice but to fire him as well.

If the interim president had fired Pitino in April or early May, the mess with Bowen's recruitment would not have happened.

Pitino's first phone conversations with adidas' Jim Gatto about Bowen (at least, the first ones the FBI knows about, from Gatto's phone records) took place on May 27. Bowen signed on June 3. The videotaped meeting with the bag men passing the envelope full of cash happened in Vegas in July.

The assistant coach allegedly involved is Johnson, whom Pitino hired from Indiana because of his ties with the shoe companies.

With the turmoil with the board & having an interim president, Jurich was likely the one who was basically in charge. Jurich had the boosters. This today will likely finish the house cleaning, except for hiring a new AD & basketball coach. The transfer of power is nearly complete.

Yeah, this article identifies Kenny Johnson as Coach-1 in the federal complaint against Jim Gatto.

At least if the payments were direct they could be taxed. Has anyone considered that this may be the camel the Federal Government has been looking for to get their nose under the tent investigating the camel's nose so they can figure out how to generate revenue from what is one helluva fat under the table transaction?

That would be taking one hell of a scenic route to get at that.

Not if the outcome forces a new system designed to stem the players' rights issues as they pertain to their name or image (jersey # etc.). Eliminate the middle men and allow players to profit from their own persona while the schools set up non taxable benefits like tuition, books, expenses, etc., related to normal school work. Then the schools can remain tax exempt but athletic departments would be subject to business taxes and players to federal and state taxes, and the other usual deductions.

This keeps the schools separated from athletics, while maintaining a branding identity, and forces the athletics, players, and athletic sponsors to operate openly and to be subject to taxation.

If that is the outcome then we may have stepped into a pile of pooh only to be able to pull out a gold plated foot. I could very well wind up being a blessing in disguise.

Should this be in the other forum? We might find that Big East schools targeted as well. Villanova for example might go down as well. This might go beyond the P5 schools overall.
