Of course, my Orange fandom may be biasing my opinion.
On a serious, I hate to see Pitino get nailed when he had nothing to do with the action. Unless there is new info, the investigation is not treating him as a suspect. Fire a guy if he does something wrong, but firing a guy when he has not done wrong is harsh. Quick thought, Louisville could still be on the hook for his salary if he is not convicted of a crime; which at this point is difficult since he is not a target of the investigation.
I understand that he is the head of the hoops program; this does not necessarily make him responsible for bribery he is unaware of. Unless Louisville wanted to get rd of him for some other reason and is being opportunistic, it seams that they should have at least given him a chance to say his piece. Anyway, just a thought.
He's got to be held responsible as the face of the program. Once they had an assistant get in trouble for providing hookers to teenagers ON CAMPUS, Pitino needed to say, "Guys, we're going to be under the microscope and we can't do anything that breaks or even bends the rules."
Whether Pitino knew exactly what was happening under his watch is irrelevant. The fact that someone on his staff knowingly broke rules and ADMITTED THEY HAVE TO BE CAREFUL BECAUSE THEY'RE ON PROBATION... that's the very definition of "lack of institutional control."
If a head coach isn't going to hire guys who have ethical standards to represent his program, that's on him.
Exactly.
He possibly could have got the benefit of a doubt were it not for the hooker scandal. When you have two high profile violations of this type in a short period of time it's clear that there was a leadership problem at Louisville. That's why Pitino and Jurich had to go.

But Kyle Flood and Julie Herrmann were fired for far less, but items they were responsible for. It didn't bother anyone since they weren't good at their jobs to begin with.
As an AD or Head Coach, it's your responsibility to know.

Yes, this guy runs a clean program. No way he is paying recruits.
And, we will throw in an AD to go with him...

Now Pitino is free to go to Vegas, unless Menzies turns it around.

Even after his stroke I think he could out coach 80% of current head coaches.

I am betting after the season, Louisville will go after Chris Mack. Regardless if what comes of this Louisville is still a top job

You guys will not get a top replacement. This isn't magically going to disappear. There will be consequences, and I think they will be really severe.
I understand delusion though; I am a Notre Dame fan. But it allows me to spot it really quickly in others.

Potential candidates at Louisville for head basketball coach.
Louisville to name interim basketball coach today at 5pm.
Furthermore, Eric Crawford has said on air that he spoke with Tom Jurich & was told by Tom that if he was given the information that Rick Pitino was coach 2 that he would have fired Pitino.

Padgett is your capatain on the SS Titanic
Maybe you can get a D2 coach after all the smoke clears and all the blood is mopped up.

We could get the death penalty, not play the next 2 seasons and vacate the last 20 years and still have more final fours, elite eights and conference championships than Cincy. Obviously that's not going to happen but just so you know where you stand...
And UCF...we made our 4th Tournament appearance in 1964. You made yours in 2005. Do we really need to say more, here?
