MAC percentage of capacity attendance
Not only is filling a stadium important, but building one the perfect size for a fanbase is even more important for a good atmosphere.

1. App State 112.34%
51. Ohio 87.68% (i believe it)
52. Toledo 87.67% (i believe it)
62. Miami 82.63% (butts in seats?)
86. BGSU 68.82% (small stadium but 1-5 BG?)
90. Akron 67.19% (has attendance been up?)
95. Kent 65.51% (fibbing a bit)
102. WMU 63.34% (large stadium)
104. NIU 62.92% (not a fibber)
107. BSU 57.38% (not a fibber)
113. CMU 55.37% (large stadium)
119. UB 49.22% (large stadium)
126. EMU 40.06% (24k and change is capacity, but with or without tarp?)
130. Tulane 21.29%

RE: MAC percentage of capacity attendance
Those seem to be reported attendance numbers, not actually the number of people in the stadium. Until there is a consistent way of reporting attendance, it’s really pointless to compare schools as if they used the same method.

FWIW, Yager's capacity remained the same on paper even after they demolished the north stands for the new football center a few years ago.

They DO use the same method: tickets sold. That's it.

Why is everybody so hung up on holding the MAC to a standard that exactly zero other sports teams or entertainment venues use?

No, every school dose not use the same method. Some schools use tickets sold (to include corporate , heavily discounted ticket sales) and other schools like WMU, UT and NIU (to name a few) use actual buts in seats.

Why would you want to do that? I went to two Reds weekday games in September. There could not have been more than 3,000 people there, but both games reported over 12,000. Might as well report as big a number as you can. Your competition does.

Hmm, so it raises the age-old question: which is more valuable, a spectator who got in free, or a ticket sold that no one uses?

A spectator who got in free. Because at least you know it's a viewable game!

First off, those corporate ticket sales that are going unused, are sold for pennies on the dollar.

Second, who is letting spectators into their games for free?

RE: MAC percentage of capacity attendance
1. Tickets cannot be sold for pennies on the dollar. Not sure where you’re getting that. They have to be bought for (I think) at least half of face value.

2. I know that some schools count everyone who enters the stadium even if they have not purchased a ticket: band, students who don’t buy tickets (athletics fees are not tickets), vendors, comps, etc.

They point is that there is no standard for attendance even within the schools who count butts and those who count tickets so any comparison of specific numbers is meaningless.

Okay but the measurement of capacity percentage correlated to stadium size is correct for the schools who you can tell count butts in seats.

The ranking may not be important but the 100% vs. 21% is. Utilize on campus stadiums over NFL venues, don't over build, and grab your students attention...

Nice numbers across the Northeast..

64. Boston College 35,419
69. Syracuse 33,753
78. Temple 27,975
79. Army 27,954
106. UConn 19,234
123. Buffalo 13,906
131. UMass 9,623

Judging from this UConn/UMass would make a nice pairing in the B1G j/k.

RE: MAC percentage of capacity attendance
CUSA-SBC attendance smack who is the better conference?

CUSA: UAB 30,631
SBC: Troy 27,271
SBC: App St. 26,404
SBC: Ark St. 25,144
CUSA: LaTech 24,705
SBC: Georgia St. 24,333
CUSA: UTSA 24,305
CUSA: Marshall 24,201

Across the Top 8 in attendance of the CUSA-SBC schools they're split evenly 4-4 for CUSA and SBC respectively.

Troy and UAB should be in the same conference IMO.

Ark St and LaTech should be in the same conference IMO.

App St and Marshall should be in the same conference IMO.

RE: MAC percentage of capacity attendance
They list Tulane incorrectly. They play at Yulman Stadium which is capacity 30k. I think they still have them listed as the SuperDome

Tickets CAN and ARE purchased pennies on the dollar by some sponsors.

However, you would be correct in that those tickets cannot be counted in the attendance figures. The discount on tickets can be no lower than 50% for the ticket to count in the attendance figure.
