TU vs Houston 2017
This ended up being an amazing game that hopefully can turn our season around. We were a 3 TD underdog and won by 4 TDs. But the real improvement came on the defensive side with timely interceptions, sure tackles and nice team play.

And i also like the way the QBs were used. We basically had a 2 QB system yesterday utilizing the strengths of both at critical times to move that ball.

But lets not get too overconfident. We are still just a 2 win team looking at some very tough games ahead in the next few weeks. We don't want to backslide and return to what got us this record in the first place.

But we should all be happy and proud of their perfromance on homecoming. Great Win! 01-ncaabbs02-13-banana03-nutkick04-rock04-cheers

RE: TU vs Houston 2017
BTW if McKinley Whitfield isn't up for defenisive player of the week there is something wrong with the system. And he needs to be pushed for All AAC defensive team at years end. It was slso nice to see Brubaker back in there, but we also need Shindelar healthy as well. Defensively, we tackled better, pursued better and the DL held their own against a very good Houston OL who had 4 of 5 starters returning from last years very good team that beat OU and Louisville.

And that Shamari Brooks is going to be somethin else! With Brewer graduating after this year, he looks like Brewers twin brother. But i still see we need a James Flanders clone on short yardage.

I still can't get over that score --------- 45 to 17. Wow!!!!!!!

RE: TU vs Houston 2017
I hadn't realized this before, but I just watched the game again and TU was completely dominant from the 2nd quarter on. Houston jumped out to a 10 to zero score early and that means TU outscored them 45 to 7 from that point. So maybe we found something that will last a while, but its going to be very difficult to get bowl eligible now, especially with the remaining schedule we have. Maybe we could squeeze into a bowl with a 5-7 record. But the odds are against that.

RE: TU vs Houston 2017
So what happened early on with that 1-5 record? Here is my take.

One of the reasons I am critical of the scheduling right now is that it just doesn't seem to be a nonconference schedule to our "advantage". (We don't have control of the conference schedule.) My problem this year in particular is that we started the season with a game that was going to be a probable loss and when we lost, it would set us back a long time. That occurred.

That OSU game was very humiliating to the team and made the players lose confidence that would obviously take a long time to heal. We finally performed the exorcism Saturday. But this needs to stop. Rule #1-- Never, ever start the season with a "probable" loss.

The second reason is that it hurts home attendance. The fans get disgusted and go to the fair or just sit home and watch another team. Not good.

So lets be smarter with that early nonconference schedule. And if this happens again, get another scheduler.

RE: TU vs Houston 2017
It was a great win over my favorite opponent to beat......I couldn't believe it...........and I'm still not a believer.......I have no explanation for the win......I didn't really see us do much different, it just seemed like Houston kind of stopped playing their normal game and I don't expect to get that lucky again this season. Getting some defensive players back won't hurt that's for sure but unless we get lucky again I don't see any other wins this year.........but if we were going to win one game, this one was really great!!!!
