Latest info from my sources
It's been a long time since I last posted a thread in this forum. I came across some info that I was going to keep to myself. However, with the gross trolling MHver3 has been doing lately, I feel compelled to set the record straight.

Expansion will happen in the not too distant future; however, don't expect massive change. Don't be shocked when the PAC takes 2 schools to get to 14 - schools that people thought would be nonstarters just a few years ago. Why so mundane? Because right now the powers that be are unsure of how the revenue streams will shake out. Obviously there will be some streaming, and obviously the cable model will continue to be around for awhile yet. However...in what proportions will they be? TBD. But I do know the PAC is going to reluctantly take 2 schools they really don't want. But...it will likely pay off well for them in the long term - financially if not culturally.

You're welcome.

It would be smart for the PAC 12 to go after some schools in the central timezone...Texas is the obvious choice, but Oklahoma and TCU would be a good combo

I think they will still go after Texas and OU. They might have to take a couple little brother schools and go to 16, but OU and Texas might help their TV negotiations. Just look at the UT-USC game this year.

Well with Texas still not budging with the LHN. It will be more like OU and OSU. The PAC should know there are more viewers of OU/OSU than just Oklahoma.

Perhaps Miko 33 is on a right track that the PAC may expand by 2. I don't think B1G, ACC and SEC want to go to 16 members.

First dibs on calling Hawaii and one of the Alaskas.

The real question is: which Alaska?

This sounds like New Mexico and Nevada. State flagships and growing populations.

You think OU and Texas 'MIGHT' help their TV negotiations.

That's probably option 53.c. on their long list but my inner completist would love to see all those contiguous states in one conference.

I think you're right. Wasn't it OU and OSU that were going to go to the PAC a few years ago but without Texas the PAC said no thanks? So if it's two schools they don't really want but would still make a big splash, OU and OSU would be the likely pair.

I can't comment on the 2 schools that will be selected; however, I can provide a quick story to pass the time.

Our story takes place in an airport, Because that is the setting of the storY. With the fracking for nat gas plus the oil shale extraction taking place, the U.s. will become (if it hasn't already) a net exporter of hydrocarBons. The extraction of fossil fuels may result in an increase in jet fuel that cOuld result in downward pressure on airlIne costs. However, this aSpect of the market will be dependent upon refining capacity. So...even with an Increase in the hydrocarbon supply, we will likely not see an uptick in refined fuel for some time. So, are 2 of these schools in the Est? Hard to say...

So it's Houston.

Maybe Tulane rather than SMU to satisfy the AAU credentials.
