CBSSN is carrying 7 OVC games while ESPNU has 7 more. That’s 14 games on national TV for a league with only regional interest in mostly smaller towns in KY/TN/IN/IL, while the CAA, playing in major metropolitan areas, has almost no TV exposure.
The OVC has 12 teams, and only one of them has a better RPI than the sixth best RPI in the CAA.

What does HTS mean?

HTS=HOME TEAM SPORTS. It was the regional sports network in the Baltimore/Washington area in the 90's. It became Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, and it's now NBC Sports Washington.

I remember HTS

That channel has always been very good to the CAA. Ashame the relationship ended

Yep. Now we’re stuck with a “Game of the Week” on CBS’s version of ESPN3. They have their own app to watch it, but at least on my iPad, the feed kept refreshing every 3-5 minutes, going back to when I started watching. I spent probably half of the 2nd half (CofC-Elon was on it last night) trying to refresh the feed so it would catch up to live action.

Basically it is CBSSN only on the internet. To think we’ve gone in three seasons from 9 games on NBCSN and 15 regular season games (plus the 4 quarterfinals) on CSN, plus ASN games to one “GOTW” on a digital platform is malpractice by our commissioner. There is one weekend (2/10) where no games are being broadcast outside CAA.tv.

They have us on the same level as men’s volleyball, hockey, and NLL (box) lacrosse. I don’t know if that platform was even prepared for the small amount of viewers these games get. Even if we were on regular CBSSN, we’d still get more viewers than what we have now.

The championship thing is another story, but the average basketball fan now can’t even access our regular season games in our footprint unless you know how to use CAA.tv and SportsLive.

Exactly. While digital viewing is growing leaps and bounds, there is still an entire generation who will not/cannot utilize it. Traditional TV and digital streaming need to work together. What Charleston was doing was what I wanted UNCW to emulate with our local independent TV station.

RE: Is there ANY TV for CAA Basketball this year?
The W&M-CofC game last night had the highest number of people watching for any CofC home game this year; 1,764. That is probably the number who watched total. Probably more in the 500-600 range at a time. Much different from what we are used to having on TV.

Any national TV game we had got 20-50K on the low end.

How do you find out how many people tuned into a stream?

There was one link on Twitter which shared that. So they had less for other games.

It's unfortunate that the CAA is less popular than the quality of the players deserve. If you made all-star teams of the best players in each conference only allowing players on teams averaging under 2,000 attendance, the CAA might have the best team. Wright-Foreman, Pemberton, Martin, Morsell, Isabell, and Pusica would be starting and bench guards. The forwards could be Gustys and Seibring with Williams on the bench.

On a day with a bunch of CAA games....

Here is today's schedule for NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus, which used to carry a bunch of CAA games on Saturday afternoons in the winter...

1:30 - Poker Night in America
2:00 - Lehigh at American
4:00 - Virginia Union at Bowie State

Heck, the SIU-Edwardsville/Murray State game is on local TV here in Charleston. Yet the CAA can’t get more than a few games on regional TV this year.

To give you the idea of the importance of television....
Today I watched the end of the Lehigh/American game and it was an awesome game. Why? Because it was on, and easier to view than setting up the Roku to watch a CAA game. I'm sure lots of people tuned in only because it was on.

8-16 Loyola (MD) and 7-17 Lafayette with the feature Sunday afternoon game on CBSSN. Then Wagner and Fairleigh Dickinson. Kind of sad that the CAA can’t get even a sniff of national TV till March while lesser leagues get multiple games.

Almost September and we’ll probably have our usual game of the week on College Sports Live, but with Fox Sports Go having some CAA fotoball games, it will be interesting to see if any CAA basketball games go on there.

With Northeastern’s NESN deal and a good chunk of their games being on there, that will help a little bit.

Is Charleston restarting the relationship with their local TV station again?

I don’t know about that. But they signed a new local radio deal for the next 5 years, and will have a twice-monthly coaches show on radio during the basketball season. They were one of the largest schools without a coaches show before the new deal.

12 Northeastern men’s basketball games will air on NESN or NESN+ this year. Eight of the nine conference home games (all but Towson), and 4 non-conference games. Five of the games will air on NESN, the others on NESN+.

Also 9 Northeastern women’s games.

This topic says Northeastern had 5 Men's Basketball games on NESN or NESN+ last season. Delaware had 3 on TV for a total of 8. The CAA is up to 8 games just from Northeastern excluding out of conference games.

17 SoCon basketball games (including all 4 quarterfinals and the semifinals of the league tournament) to air on a syndicated network of Nexstar stations in SoCon footprint + ESPN3 or ESPN+.

https://t.co/paGfPCozMY

Yet under 2 weeks before the season and there has been no announcement of TV games for the season other than Northeastern’s NESN package. SportsLive is doing a second year of their Game of the Week package before it ends after this year.

I dont think there is much to announce other than the College Sports Live schedule. A non Delaware home games will be on CAA.TV. The powers that be seem to be all in on that platform.

The Socon deal sounds like the old deal CAA had with the Comcast Sports Networks. I wonder who is paying production costs. I believe that is why the CAA-CSN deal ended

Does this mean SOCON is solvent and CAA is broke?
