Slam Dunk:
Alabama <--> Auburn
Georgia Tech <--> Duke
Vandy <--> Wake Forest
South Carolina <--> North Carolina
Clemson <--> NC State
Tennessee <--> Virginia Tech
Texas A&M <--> LSU
Texas <--> Arkansas

Sounds good:
Louisville <--> Missouri
Florida <--> Kentucky
Ole Miss <--> Georgia
Miami <--> Pitt

Leftovers:

Mississippi State

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, T.C.U., Texas Tech

Virginia, West Virginia

My best shot at sorting the leftovers:
Florida State <--> Oklahoma
Oklahoma State <--> West Virginia
Texas Tech <--> Mississippi State ("BFE Bowl")
TCU <--> Virginia

It would really make for some extremely watchable crossovers and yet keep the vast majority of important regional opponents.

I don't think Grant Field would have trouble staying sold out with that slate of games, plus you guys could take on Purdue or Notre Dame as your OOC.

I do think I would add a second crossover for several of these teams
Auburn...........Georgia
Virginia Tech...West Virginia
Georgia Tech...Duke
Wake Forest....Carolina
NC State.........South Carolina
Miami..............Florida
Those second crossovers all play each other annually in the divisions I initially listed.

But Carolina and Georgia don't get to play each other in look-a-like stadiums.

Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, South Carolina, Duke. 6 of the 8 are a home sell out every single year. The remaining two are really really close to sellout (Miami) and still not too bad for no away help (Duke is about 5k shy of a sellout typically).

Well other than Miami the driving distances are all wonderfully doable. Donations would go up for the right to buy those away games with a season book.

The Neo-Southern Conference:

East:
Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, South Carolina

South:
Alabama, Kentucky, L.S.U., Louisville, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

West:
Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, T.C.U., Texas Tech

North:
Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virgina

That's 4 Divisions of 8 each which are grouped Regionally and would permit the culture of each distinct region to stay intact and it groups essential rivals if you permitted 1 annual crossover rivalry game (in this case Auburn/Alabama)

The Union Pacific Conference

Mid East: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin

Mid West: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Utah

West: California, Cal Los Angeles, Oregon, Oregon State, Southern Cal, Stanford, Washington, Washington State

Conferences Semis replace the first round of the CFP and the champion of the Union Pacific meets the champion of the Neo Southern annually for the national championship. Everyone else heads to the bowls.
