Virginia Tech dropped from 17 to NR. (I figured they'd still be in there around 23).

Clemson's 6 wins against opponents with winning records and the Auburn win was the deciding factor on moving them ahead of Miami and Oklahoma.

Can't argue too much at this point against any of the top 4. If Wisconsin wins out they will be in according to most "experts.

Two questions came up which were interesting.

1. If Clemson beats Miami in the ACC Champ game do the both have a chance to get in?

2. If Bama beats Auburn and loses to Georgia in the SEC Champ game who gets in or could both still have a chance.

So many things could happen in the next 3 weeks and it's still pretty wide open.

If Wisconsin loses to Michigan or Ohio State they are out.

If Clemson loses to Miami they are out ( Analyst stated as of right now Clemson would be a 5.5 favorite).

If Auburn wins out with 3 win a against what will be the top 6 they are in even with 2 loses.

If Oklahoma wins out they are in.

I remember being curious last season regarding the B1G, because of the Penn State and Ohio State debacles but I think this is as wide open as I have seen it regarding the top 7 since the CFP started due to the contenders and the fact they still have to play each other.

TCU may be without Hill but for arguments sake let's say they win out and he is back for the Oklahoma Big 12 Champ game.

TCU won the 2nd half of their game.

Is Oklahoma safe in a rematch with TCU or Oklahoma State?

This Is getting really exciting.

Also, since Notre Dame doesn't play in a Champ game now at 8-2 everyone believes they are out with no way to get back into the top 4.

Based on what I've read I would agree with you on all points. As for 2 ACC teams getting in - I think more chaos would be required, but then, there's been a lot already, so who knows?

I don't understand how losing to an unranked Iowa State team at home is better than a loss to an unranked Syracuse team on the road. Regardless of season outcome, you have to look at the loss in that moment and not project to the future (Iowa State is a good team and beat x,y and z teams). No one knew at the time how good Iowa State was and sorry, that loss at home is bad.

Did anyone take into account Auburns QB was playing his 2nd game in 2 years @ Clemson? Did they take into account our 2 hurt starting WR's who didn't play? Did they take into account that we were missing KJ (1035 yards, 15 rushing TDs, 152 Rec Yard, 2 Rec tds)? Did they take into account That Pettway was hurt? (The SEC's leading rusher last year). Clemson wasn't missing a single key contributer. Does any of this matter? Nope Auburn is still rocking an L.

Oklahoma just beat #6 TCU, Clemson was in a 17-14 game against FSU until 3:05 in the 4th qtr.

Also if you think an Iowa State (6-4) loss is worse or equal to a Syracuse (4-6) loss you haven't been watching football this season. They take every thing into account. You don't judge a team based on what they were or what people thought they were. That's the most ridiculous comment I have ever read on here. If a team is 4-3 and beats Alabama and then finishes the season 9-3. They don't go back and say Bama lost to a 4 win team. Iowa State has been playing some good football. (Beat TCU and Oklahoma, lost by 4 @ WVU and lost in the closing seconds against Oklahoma State) Wake Forest just hung 63 on Syracuse.

Lastly, I'm not saying Clemson wouldn't beat them, I'm just putting what I think the committee will do.

Sorry dude, you can not see the forest for the trees and that is the problem with college football. The committee needs to exam the season week by week. When you look at the intangibles, you can most certainly say which L was worst. First, you can not use future team success to make that decision and that is the issue. At the time of both Clemson's and Oklahoma's defeats the following was true:
  • Cuse was 3-3 facing an undefeated Clemson team at home. The national champs were coming and there isn't a team in the country that wouldn't be stoked to play the defending national champs
  • Iowa State was 2-2 going to a 4-0 OU team that stomped tOSU
  • Clemson lost by 3 with a chance to tie at the end of the game after their starting QB left the game hurt. OU lost by 7 at home and could not stop the game winning drive.
I don't know about you but losing at home to an unranked 2-2 team by a touchdown is worse than losing to an unranked 3-3 team on the road. You can not project out and say well Iowa State is a great team because they are x,y,z. No one knew at the time that Iowa State would blossom and accomplished what they have up to today. Basically, take the W/L for what it is worth at the time it happened. It is totally ridiculous that people are now subtracting VaTech from Clemson's season accomplishments. VaTech was ranked #12 in the country at the time. That didn't change because VaTech has fallen out of the top 25. They still get credit for defeating the #12 team in the country at the time of the game.

It is also ridiculous that people want to downplay Clemson's performance against FSU. People seem to forget that FSU also have 5 star players scattered across that field and that pride plays a part in performance. Do you really think FSU wouldn't have given Clemson a game?

ACC football is really making strides

I guess not lost to Pitt. 07-coffee3

Pitt did beat the best team in the country last season as well so I wouldn’t say Miami isn’t the best just because they lost to Pitt 07-coffee3
